i was reading about this very colorfull fighter would make a great biography.
his name was susuki ishimatsu, who later changed his name to gutz because he lacked heart during his earlier career and wanted to believe in himself.
he laters became one of the spotty record fighters to win at the champion level with wins over aruro pineda, the very good rudlofo ganzalez and a controvesial but still admirable win over the great ken buchanon.
im sure the great fighting harada would be first but fighters like guts, royal kobayashi and recent fighters like eagle koyama really show the quality level of fighters that have come out of japan.

this poor guy dident even make it into the hof? its a shame how the hall of fame overlooked about 6-8 very good fighters from thailand, korea and japan that should have been inducted years ago

Gushiken was quite good, but Harada was better and beat better fighters. He definitely gets my vote.

At the rate they're letting some more obscure champions in there, I expect that there's plenty of room for somebody with 13 successful title defenses in four years, who defeated all of his opponents, and rematched three of his challengers who intitially took him the 15 round limit. There must be at least a few voters who viewed his two performances against Rigoberto Marcano on Bass and Lederman's "Calvacade of Boxing" syndicated program years ago.
