What are your thoughts? I see plenty of flaws waiting to be exposed, but so far he has been a MASSIVE hit with overseas fans. People are genuinely excited about him, you only need to read through the general forum in recent times to see that. And although he does have flaws, he is still very explosive and very powerful. I think he is going to be involved in some great match ups in the future. At only 26 years of age, he looks to be the guy to carry Aussie boxing into the future, particularly as many of Australia's other fighters are presumably on the decline.

If he can work on his defensive technique yet retain his aggressive nature i think he will go far. I just hope his eyes and skin don't become an issue; they seemed to cut quite easily in his last fight - but on the plus side i dont remember him sustaining that type of facial damage in the past. I think he can go far but i dont want to see him take on too bigger fights just yet - he is ready for a Casamayor but perhaps not one of the Diaz boys

Casamayor is a harder fight for him based on styles. He would lose to both guys, but at least against Diaz he will look impressive in doing so.

I think he can go along way!! What a great action fighter, and he is goin to make a lot of aussies very proud of him.

I say he beats them all at lightweight .....oneday, but not yet.

And yeah of course i wanna see him take on the best but id rather see him guided like The Baby Bull has been for a few years.

Go Kat!!!

He definitely is NOT ready for Casa.

I wopuld put $1000s of dollars down that he'd get beaten easy by him.

I agree however I wouldn't bet that much money unless I could drug Katsidis water. I suck at gambling.

I personally believe Katsidis wil turn out like Gatti, a fairly solid fighter who win, loss or draw will always pull a crowd and have a fan base just because his fights wld be exciting. Atm however i wldnt throw him in the deepend right away. Perhaps have him fight someone who his ranked above him by 2 rungs.

Now i wish sometimes i was a Manager for a boxer like this.

because with Kat this would be my plan.

Jan 2008 vs Nate Campbell (35-5-1) and nearly 36 years old.

if he wins
Aug 2008 vs Juan Diaz (32-0-0) it might be his only chance at Diaz.
if he loses to Campbell
Jun 2008 vs Ray Narh (20-1-0) he would beat this guy.

now if he loses to Diaz
you go after say
Joan Guzman again
or
Julio Diaz.

that what i would do.

My question is who will find him out if he is to be..

What level can he reach? I didnt see the us fight, and haven't seen him in a while since he's been on our cards.

I agree I reckon Nate Cambell would be a good next fight for Katsidis . Casa is probably to slick for him and Diaz would make for a fight of the year but would be worried Katsidis might take a bad beating if he fought the baby bull right now . Katsidis needs to take a few more fights and tidy up his defence. Either way he's one of the most exciting fighters out there at the moment

I think Katsidis would walk through Cambell

Campbell is still a very tricky fighter. I don't think they will want to take such a hard fight and risk a potentially great fight with diaz. If juan wins his next unification bout, a match with Katsidis could almost head its own PPV as the main event. Watching Katsidis last fight he had a lot of trouble figuring out how to approach his southpaw opponent. I think Katsidis almost needs to totally give away trying to box and just go for the kill the full 12. The times when he tried to box he was getting beaten badly. I was very suprised he used very little head movement and was just eating shots in some parts.

I think he can become a star. His style is MADE for TV, so the likes of Showtime or HBO will love him forever. It only takes one shot for a puncher so that will always keep Rocky in any fight.

I think he will improve with every fight. Fighting guys like Amonosot is good because it makes him lift his game, and he can watch the tapes and learn from his mistakes hopefully.

He wont become one of our greats in terms of achievment.

But I think he will be remembered by a lot of fans because of the way he fights. I feel Americans especially will think of Michael Katsidas when they think of Australian boxing.

Not as far as Mundine thats for damn sure :deal Kat is chinny (Earl fight) like cotto is (who has been hurt in numerous fights, rocked by Judah three times) and then cheated like a dog with low blows that were just as bad as Hatten's to Kostya but he doubled up on it once his chin couldn't hold up :yep
and Kat has bad defence like Cotto, both will be exposed when they meet solid counter punches with a strong mentality and their padded records will soon have an L on them and they will end up looking like Vic kissing the canvas:hi:

The in his prime Mundine will fight and beat the winner of Kessler/Cazaghe:yep

Look forward to it in 2008:hat

mundine will never beat kessler.

Yeah Cotto has a padded record. Taking on olympic gold medalists, world champions and great undefeated prospects just cannot compre to Neivas. One of your best.

Yeah but Cotto doesn't have a great chin like Mundine does remember. Cotto has been knocked down once in his career. When has Mundine ever been knocked down?

What sort of pro fighter gets scared when he gets into the ring? Even guys who jump into mismatches against top prospects fight their guts out without fear. What a joke.

It could be argued that Kessler was 100% for that fight either. His back problems were well documented and he looked like he was just doing what he had to.

Against Andrade and Lucas, Kessler showed he could work a lot harder if need be.

I dont think Mundine can ever beat Kessler.

There was plenty of good Katsidis nut hugging going on, then one mention of Mundine and this thread becomes a Mundine hugbash. You guys really do prefer talking about Mundine...pathetic.
Katsidis might appeal to the public over there, but not if he loses. Darchinian was being talked about for his entertainment value, but it was short lived. Gatti was a one off and Kats is not going to attract that kind of attention. He will make some interesting undercard fights, but if he loses he will decline in entertainment value. He really needs to work on his deficiancies if he is to progress. In this regard he should work with Tony Mundine who is our most successful boxing trainer of the last five years. He will iron out his bad habits.
