What happened to him?
last i heard he was living on the central coast and trying to get a fight with an up and coming mundine back around 2001/02.. I think he was doing some sort of youth work as well..anyone know where he is and if he is still involved in boxing.

Rusty I saw John for the first time in ages at Mansfield Tavern a couple of weeks ago. Looked in fine form and as good a guy as ever

We spoke to him a couple of months ago and he was training kids at the Hills District PCYC at Arana HIlls in Brisbane. He was in terrific form as well.

For intensity, his war with Hagler is up there with Ibeabuchi v Tua

good to hear..
I hate to hear the storys about great old fighters ending up in the gutter..
im glad hes ok. ive got nothing but respect for a guy that can push marvin hagler to his limits..
IMO he would have been champ had he fought anyone but hagler that night.. what a fight..

He was in sterling form at the Hall of Fame dinner. They presented him with a new WBC belt to replace the belt he lost and they couldn't get him off the stage he was so happy.
