We all know to keep our chins tucked in. But when I do so the part of the head guard that runs across the forehead blocks my view. Am I wearing it wrong?

It probably isn't adjusted properly. This happens alot in gyms if you use their headgear and not your personal one. Many times if you use the gyms headgear no one takes the time to adjust it properly to a boxers head. Next time you see a headgear, look at it carefully. It should have a velcro closure on the back and some also have it on the top of the head as well. They need to be adjusted to custom form to your head. Also chech the headgear to see what size it is. They some in small, medium, large, and extra large. If you know your hat size is a 7 1-2, then you would take a large. Other things about a headgear are up to your personal preference. For example, some guys lie cheek protectors ,some don't. Some like the chin protector headgears, some don''t. Make sure you go with a quality brand and all leather as well. Ringside, Title, and G&S are good makes. Stay away from the junk that they sell in the Sporting Goods store. They are usually low quality crap

thanks. the head guard i bought cost me £20. It was made by everlast though so I think it is good. Offered good protection anyway. not a mark on my face or any headaches. I think I just need to adjust it better.

With Everlast you need to be careful. They sell alot of low grade, cheap ass shit that is aimed at people who are just into fitness or recreational boxing. That stuff isn't meant for the serious boxer, nor is it durable enough. You have to make sure that with Everlast you buy their professional grade line, and that the product is made of genuine, authentic leather. I realize you are not in the states and are in the UK, so it might be tough and costly to get Ringside, Title, or G&S. Isnt Lonsdale a good quality boxing supply brand in the UK?I always see the British fighters on TV with Lonsdale stuff on?

it is hard to get any boxing equipment round these places. However if I get more serious then I will probably upgrade to higher quality stuff. Money's tight atm.

i made sure to get a headgear that was usa boxing approved when i got my everlast. otherwise it would have been a pointless waste of money.

I even went to a martial arts supplier in the middle of Cardiff and they don't even stock boxing head gear like.

Most big boxing supply outfits here in the states like Ringside and Title do all their business through the mail. They have a catalog with all their products and you place your order and you get your stuff in a few days. Lonsdale must have a similiar deal where you send away for equipment.

The lonsdale is poor quality stuff over here in the UK. I'm sure you can get better quality though, however it isn't really in any of the main shops. Most sportswear shops sell low grade and shops like argos even sell boxing equipment, promoting amir khan everyone wants it and think its top stuff.
