I know that Moseley won by amazing last second ko but I hear that two judges had him ahead on the scorecards!!!! Surely this is not true??? I had Mayorga ahead by 4 or 5 rounds before that sensational finish.

Do you guys believe that Mayorga had done enough to win or did I watch the wrong fight!! :D

BTW I clearly heard the bell go just before the ref called it off.
If Mayorga had been able to get up inside the count would it have gone to the scorecards anyway????

Was it in the rules that a fighter could be saved by the bell?

Not saved by bell in last round.
Great end. But, I agree with 9Ball and Jim Watt. I had Mayorga up. However, I had a quick look over on the other side and there was no great dispute going on. I was shocked.
I will ask David Haye on Thursday when he comes on the show. He is a true fight fan.

Adios.

Yeah I had watched Skys coverage who had Mayorga 4? up and then watched the 12th on youtube the day after and Lederman had Shane 4 or 5 up going into the 12th !

You really need to stop listening to Jim Watt.

Mute it if need be.

Anyone who suggests that Moseley was up going into the 12th either cannot have watched the fight or are suffering from an overwhelming case of Sugar Shane man love.

Golden Boy fighters have been getting gifts on the cards recently.

I had Mosley up by a few rounds. He landed the cleaner punches throughout the fight. Though he was inactive and relying on single punches, he was still landing more.

Mayorga wasn't bothering Mosley at all.

It was close but after the first knockdown giving shane the 10-8 round which put him at least 2 up, but scorecards are irrelevant :rofl

But i think shane is preety much done

yeh that is pretty bad, people would stick up for mayorga big time if he had lost on the card.

I think mosley would have struggled with Mayorga even 6-7 years ago. i got back from a stag in latvia on sunday and watched the fight taped half asleep half hungover.................that last 20 secs woke me up big time.

I actually had it level going into the last, with a couple close rounds which could have gone either way. Mayorga impressed me in that fight, his awkwardness and pressure style made Shane look ponderous at times. He said he had trained hard for this one, and for once he wasn't lying.

Seems a lot of you guys agree that Moseley was ahead going into the last.
Maybe I gave Mayorga more props than he deserves because he made Sugar Shane look a shadow of his former self??
I just felt that apart from the 6th round he hardly took the fight to Mayorga at all?? Neither boxer seemed to land too much but Mayorga was the man pressing the fight imo. Shane looked short of ideas and didn't seem to know how to deal with Mayorga (his corner was next to useless too!)

Steve Bunce commented on one of my threads!!!! And said he would discuss it with David Haye on his show!!
:yikes :yikes :yikes

I'm not worthy! :smoke

Mayorga forced the fight for me and I had him at least a couple of rounds up. Mosley's timing was off, and age looks like it has finally cought up with him.

He also wasn't listening to anything his father was saying, and I don't even know why he bothered to corner him.

Most of the rounds were close but mosley had the cleanest work and i don't tend to listen to comentators views i make my own judgement.
going into the last it was preety tight and without the knockdown it could of been a draw but once mosley put him down it was a mosley win.

Of course mayorga got ktfo so it dosen't matter :yep

Mayorga was edging it for me going into the last (by one or two points).

Moseley looked truly shite for 11 1/2 rounds, but then looked amazing for the other 1/2 round.

Both of them look just about done for me. I think their respective victories over the terribly shot Vargas flattered them a bit, made us think they were still serious contenders.

Moseley also done well against Cotto, but only when Cotto took his foot of the gas and let him back into the fight.

If Moseley continues he would be best advised to target Andre Berto; Paul Williams, Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito would beat bits out of him.

I thought Mayorga was well up... Mosley got a gift versus De La Hoya second time round too I thought.. I like Mosley... perhaps the judges find his style appealing. I laughed when Adam Smith said Mosley was boxing in a jerky nervous style... has he never watched him before... thats how he fights.

I didn't concentrate on it fully. But the later rounds, I didn't see how Mosley could posibly be winning them, he was doing nothing at all. Mayorga was at least aggressive and busy, if ineffective.

What is clear is that opinion is wildly divided.

I had a feeling HBO would have Mosley up. Sky picked up the HBO feed and you'd watch Mayorga dominate a round (albeit a messy round) then in the break nothing but Mosley replays!

I'm saying this a bitter man because I had a bit of action on Mayorga at 6-1 :bart

HBO always seem to favour the GBP fighter.

I had Mayorga one up, if he had landed more clean, effective punches it would have been more.

The 10-8 would have stolen it for Mosley on my card.

i thought it was pretty even going into that round.

mosely should cash in on one more fight and then call it a day.

i wonder how far mayorga could have gone if he actually looked after himself?

Neither do I 9Ball.

But, if Moseley continues with his career he will undoubtedly wan't to go for a belt, and a belt at WW at that (he's no LMW). Out of all the champions Berto's style would suit Moseley more at this stage of his career. I think Moseley, with his very good chin, would be asking for trouble going in against the big-hitting volume punchers that the other three belt-holders are; his chin would keep him in the fight too long, and he could end up getting seriously hurt.

I'm not so sure that Berto is a big enough name for Moseley at this stage. He seems to be going down the 'super fight against another ageing fighter' road similar to BHop/ODLH/JC/RJJ.

I think he absolutely has to go back down to Welter, he is simply not big enough to fight at LM at world class level in my opinion. A well shop worn Mayorga nearly finished him for good!

The fight I would like to see now and one which I think makes a lot of sense is Moseley vs Cotto 2 at Welter.
Cotto needs a big name to come back with and he has already beaten Shane so it makes sense for him, it would also be a nice big fat pay day for Shane before calling it a day...
