everyones reporting this will be khan's next opponent. i would be really surprised if gethin was chosen, i think he's a tough customer more experience than khan and has already shown he can cause upsets, tough comeback fight, but he gains a lot of respect if he beats Gethin...at least from me

Khan has already fought Gethin, hasn't he?
EDIT: Wrong Gethin. Seems strange to fight an undefeated prospect with less than a 50% KO rating. What is Khan supposed to learn?

Khan was always going to back in with someone that has an average ko record. Interesting to see it's being put back a week to the 13th to accomodate Roach.
If Sky put this on Box Office they can shove it. This is a Bethnall Hall fight not a glamour match-up to fill out a 20,000 arena.

I really hope Gethin gets this fight and beats Khan!!!!

If Gethin beats Khan it will have bigger implications than the Prescott loss, believe me.
For all this time, we have been led to believe that Amir was above EUROPEAN level now - so to lose to a decent (not cracking IMO) domestic PROSPECT would be very embarrassing indeed. Certainly more so than a loss to Thaxton, whom Amir called out and in turn, shamelessly ducked.

I don't see what Gethin has got to lose. A decent pay day and a good chance to test Khan's confidence early on.
Khan should win though, training with Roach will be brilliant. The besr thing he could do is leave his 'entourage' behind go out to Wild Card and spar with some tough, tough opponents.

khan was supposed to fight fewkes before prescott stepped in, gethin beat fewkes so not bad fighting a guy who beat the fighter you were gonna face before you got KO'd

I think Gethin has more in his fists than Fewkes
I have seen Fewkes a few times, Gethin only twice - and was fairly impressed with both (Fewkes effort against Gethin excl)
Jeff has said that Fewkes is pretty average and won't get past 8 round level - not sure whether to agree or not. He looks good jabbing and moving, but against an operator with good skills and more power than himself he may come unstuck regularly.

If Khan loses this, he's finished. He will actually be at journeyman level.

thats the trouble when you are a hot prospect coming back of a defeat, the pressure to win the next fight is huge, where does khan go from here if he loses again!!!!!
Gethin is probably raring to go. Anybody is just going to jump all over Khan now.

As my first post under a new username, I would just like to state how pleasurable it was to finally see Khan get what we all knew was coming to him. I would not have been so excited to see it, but due to the hype and lies given to all of the public about this guys chances, it was vindication that I absolutely can read a fake amateur hope when they come along.
Khan's career now is as good as over, unless he can work on defensive style and protect his frail chin. He needs to step up now and fight the best the UK has to offer, and not just hunt obscure nobodies with very low KO records like he was before. That is the test.

Lets be honest Gethin is hardly the second coming of Billy Schwer... he's poor if pretty solid. He's slow, has a average defence and looks horribly gaunt at lightweight. His two 'big' wins came against Siddique who is central area level at best and Fewkes whom Dwilson said was suffering from horrendous personal issues and hardly came to fight. TBH I'm not really interested in Khans career anymore. Nice kid, could be a great fighter but he's been mis managed to a point where he doesn't really look likely to be around even in f-5 years time.

typical casual fan reaction :-(
so you were interested before when he was knocking over super-feathers, but his first setback all of a sudden you've lost interest and not willing to see how he comes back. Do you follow Boxing or do you follow padded records?

Clearly you know nothing about this site. Jeff is an ex pro with extensive knowledge, historically and technically of the UK boxing scene.
We all know what Khan is. This post is more appropriate for the general forum.

so you were interested before when he was knocking over super-feathers, but his first setback all of a sudden you've lost interest and not willing to see how he comes back. Do you follow Boxing or do you follow padded records?lol ... thats brilliant... I was disinterested by the time he got to about bout number 16 and it became clear the Khan management team were unwilling to match him competitively. I was an ardant Khan fan and had supported and defended him against all those who declared he was an accident waiting to happen.
If there is one person who isn't a casual fan on here its me and though I hold back a hell of a lot due to my 'situation' I think i've been lucky enough to experience boxing at many different levels.
To be honest your post is rather bizarre for a number of reasons not least because you admonish me for been a casual fan when I was actually a fighter. Furthermore If you knew anything about whom my favourite fighters are and whom I find a waste of time to watch you'd realise that padded records are the bane of my boxing interest.
Bredis Prescott was meant to be nothing more then further padding for an already inflated record and my interest had massively dwindled long before Khan was exposed. I have nothing agaisnt Khan - I have always wanted him to do well but when they matched him with St Clair then Kristajansen when John Murray, Jon Thaxton and Yuri Romanov were all far more legitimate opponents it was clear to see something was amis- which I clearly stated at the time.
Add to that the stories you hear at gym level which I can't really talk about and my stance that the public never recieved a true explanation of the Harrison split and you could say my argument about being more then a casual fan holds a damn site more water then any you can make.
Thanks.

what i should've said is thats what i expect from a casual fan and not from the well informed and normally rational sir jeff

what i should've said is thats what i expect from a casual fan and not from the well informed and normally rational sir jeff Sorry my mistake... must be that time of the month again. Thank you Sir Slip... No i'm just bored of SN mis promoting and mismanaging simple.... They don't know how to entertain people. Jim Lampley said of my former opponent Steve Murray that if he had of been in the US he'd have been a multi millionaire what with his big punching, crowd pleasing style. All SN are interested in is making a shit load of meaningless high revenue fights-most of their fighters disappear into a void its happened time and time again and will happen to Khan. And anyone else they sign. I would argue that never have SN taken a fighter to world class intentionally. The closest was Hatton and even then he had to make all kinds of threats before the Tszyu match was made. There happy to deliver C grade fights at A grade price. They have ploughed through more talent then the x-factor judges and what have they got to show for it? Rant over.

For Amirs die hard fans and perhaps boxing fans in general this comeback represents a very interesting time. I was blinded by my personal lack of interest... Stupid really. Sorry. :good
