This would only be interesting if you strongly dislike Mayorga.

Hagler will clinically put a beating on him, because of the defence Mayorga would lack against someone like Marvin

This fight wouldnt be interesting at all.

Hagler would stop Mayorga in around a couple of punishing rounds.

Think Hagler-Hamsho 1...only more one-sided.

Roy Jones Jr. versus Richard Frazier made more sense.

I'll say this for Mayorga, every high profile fight he was in was justified. He terrorized Lewis and Forrest. He lost a disputed(I haven't seen entire fight) decision to Spinks. Was clipping Trinidad with some good punches until he let Trinidad hit him at will with that hook. I thought he fared well with De la Hoya considering his clear lack of skill. Ended Vargas' career, or at least it appears that way for the time being. He gave Shane what appeared to be a difficult puzzle to figure out for a couple of rounds.

I do not think that a fight with Hagler would be anywhere near as competitive as the aforementioned fights. Mayorga would be in the ring with someone technically superior, physically stronger, and nearly impossibe to hurt even when he does connect a punch. I really can't see this fight going past the 2nd round.

Hagler by brutal stoppage in a noncompetitive, one-sided fight.

Does Hagler hit that much harder than Trinidad? If at all? Hagler wins but Mayorga makes it to the mid-rounds

:-(

No, he doesn't. Mayorga has split his career between welter and lightmiddle. Hagler was a natural middleweight - and a beast at 160. Mayorga has been knocked out by De La Hoya (natural welter) and Mosley (natural light). Think of the Hagler that crushed Hearns fighting Ricardo Mayorga. I doubt Mayorga would see the 3rd round, possibly not even see out the 1st.

But Hagler isn't a murderous puncher, Mayorga has a strong chin and took Tito's best for 8 rounds, and Tito looks to have better 1 shot power at 160 than Hagler. Yes Hagler smashed Hearns up quite quickly but Hearns chin wasnt as good as Mayorgas.

Hagler scored very few early round KOs and didnt instill his will over other small men like Duran/Leonard

No-one said he would KO him with one punch though. Hagler would dominate and stop him very early with the cumulative impact of shots that Mayorga is neither fast nor clever nor elusive enough to avoid. It would be a mismatch. The only reason he didn't impose his will on Duran and Leonard was because they are two of the greatest fighters in history. Ricardo Mayorga... isn't.

52 stoppages in 62 wins is an excellent ratio (84%!), and if he can stop quality career middleweights Antuofermo in 5, Minter in 3, and Hearns in 3, he can certainly destroy mediocre welter/lightmiddle Mayorga in 1 or 2.

I didn't say that, it was the other guy. Your quotation has came out wrong. I don't think Tito's power at 160 was anywhere near Hagler's.

Sorry guys i posted the wrong reply.....my bad!!!

Obviously you got the wrong end of the stick.

I wasnt referring to a close fight, i was referring to Mayorga GETTING punished for a round or two and either bailing out or being stretched out.

I didnt meen punishing as competitive.:good

What fights show Tito has more one punch power at middle?.

Hagler would have murdered Mayorga. This fight ain't even competitive apart from Hagler taking a couple of punches, here and there, that he shakes off easily.

I DID NOT SAY THAT, I ARGUED AGAINST THAT POINT, THERE IS SOMETHING WEIRD GOING ON WITH THE QUOTATIONS HERE, I THINK HAGLER IS A FAR HARDER HITTER AND BETTER FIGHTER THAN TITO AT 160, AND I THINK HAGLER WOULD STOP MAYORGA IN A ROUND OR TWO.

Hagler stops him within a few rounds. Mayorga has a terrible defense so Hagler would find him with every punch.

Interesting matchup???? Apparently you never saw Hagler fight if you think that Mayorga would even be anything more than target practice for him.

Mayorga has some talent and is at best a "B" level fighter with a couple wins over Forest and one over Vargas. When facing better fighters, he gets beat----Cotto, Mosley, De La Hoya, Trinidad. Hagler would make short work of him, likely inside 3.

Not to be to harsh, but I am of the opinion that Mayorga would not have lasted long as a sparring partner for Marvin back in the day.
