Who wins?
I like Byrd's awkward style and experience but he has struggled against lesser talents.:think

Brock vs Povetkin---hard to call, but considering the thunderous KO CB suffered vs Klitschko and he suffered a flash knockdown from an elixir type opponent his confidence may be a little down while AP is coming off a solid win over crafty veteran Larry Donald, I think the momentum may be swinging in the Russian's favour. I think the fight would be a boring tactical type contest.

Povetkin's style is all wrong for Byrd--not a huge heavyweight who has a high workrate and superior physical strength. He'd be coming at Byrd with combinations and limiting his countering chances.
Byrd is at his best against big heavyweights that throw one or two shots and allow him to slip shots and pick them off with his quick one-twos. Povetkin beats him.
Ditto Chambers. Chambers to me is slick but pretty raw. He's not on the skill level of Byrd. I think either Povetkin or even the '07 version of Byrd could beat Chambers.

If this fight took place before the 2nd Wlad fight, I'd feel better about Byrd's chances. On top of being a bad matchup style-wise, I'm not so sure he's not shot mentally as well as physically by the time this fight happens. I don't know how he could be as sharp knowing the only thing awaiting him if he wins is possibly the most lopsided trilogy in boxing history.

i think byrd will drop the fight for that very reason. i think in his prime he'd have made povetkin look foolish
does Bryd really want to win this tourny? his prize of winning is another beating from Wlad? I wish he would drop to cruiser, that division has been getting better he should make one last go of it there.

I see Brock beating all of them honestley...So what he lost Wlad...you have to remember, thats Wlad he lost to.
Of course i dont want to se him fight Wlad though..Just saying i think he will win the tourny.

Such a tough pick.
I'll say Povetkin. I think Byrd has lost a step, i thought he was kinda slow in his last fight.

Povetkin close, but Byrd is easily his toughest test. Take away physicality and Byrd is probably still the 3rd or 4th best HW out there.
actually I wish Bryd would just go away, I hated watching all of his fights, except against Wlad and Ike.

Agreed 100%...it looks to me like the sole reason Byrd's in this is to help but Povetkin "over" in the US, and I'm guessing he'll be well paid for it. I can't see this fight going well for him at this stage in his career for all the reasons I mentioned in the above post. My opinion is that it's going to be an ugly ending for him, honestly. The more I think about it, this might be his final fight- which would explain why he's not going down to Cruiser.

How unexciting is it, that both Byrd and Brock are in this four man tournament for a shot at Wlad?
They've both been hammered, but good. And Byrd, twice, now.
Byrd or Brock winning the shot would be a very predictable fight for all involved. But I hope, and think, that Povetkin will pull it off.

I doubt there is a fighter out there who could make Povetkin look foolish. Win over him - yes, but that dude is no fool.

Povetkin is a good fighter and should not be underestimated.
