Jamie Pittman vs Sammy Soliman

Lets look at his like 8-10 months from now.

Lets say Sam doesnt win the contender and fights start to fizzle out in the U.S. Could this happen around then??

Pittman looks like he going to establish himself as one of our top middleweights. In that time he has got a few good domestic fighters to test the waters at that weight, guys like Comer, Vella, Mitrevski, maybe Singh or Talipau. Plus maybe he can get a half decent import or two to fatten up the record.

With Soliman at 33 lets assume that though he may not decline he wont be improving. And with Pitty only 26, he could really lift his game in that time and bridge the fairly clear gap we see now between them.

How would this fight pan out?

Could Pittman deal with Soliman?
Would the new more aggressive, more dominant but also easier to counter and tag Soliman turn up.
OR would Sam revert back to his run, duck and pot shot kind of stlye of old which gave so many guys the fits but didnt exactly win him fights clearly enough.

Yeah i would definitely try & match Pittman with a Gary Comer type to see how he handles himself.
Also future showdowns with Sam Soliman would be awesome for his development win or lose.
At this stage i would still back Soliman, but should Pittman beat 1 or 2 of those guys u mentioned convincingly then my opinion may change.
Pittman will have a handy size difference too.

I'd pick Pittman for sure. I've got big wraps on him. He is a MONSTER of a middleweight and is destined for big things IMO. I also like that he is well under the radar at the moment. Far less pressure.

Agreed. Pittman would be WAY too fast for Sam. Bad style match up for an ageing Soliman.

If Sam is confirmed on the contender then good on him. I hope he makes spaid loads of cash. Pittman has plenty of work to do to compete with Soliman. He has always looked like a slapper.

Sam would bring some authenticity to the program. It was enjoyable first time around but the second series is forgoten in my mind. Soliman would be a bit of a favourite. Gunter, I think you was mistake Bro, I called Pittman a slapper and he is. Soliman isnt a noted puncher but you wouldnt call him a slapper.

He slapped well enough to drop Gonzalez 3 times. Plus he enters the rings at 184lbs. Kinda large for a 160 lb fighter.

Every fighter who's been on the Contender has seen their career and their purses improve by being on the show. It's about making money. I suspect there will be more than one serious contender on this year's show. As long as a guy isn't afraid to lose a 5 round bout (and why should a fighter with 9 losses already on his record be afraid of that), it will increase exposure, both stateside and overseas, and lead to more bigger fights.
