Roy Nelson has a kimura, not fully locked, but he certainly had the grip, IN SIDEMOUNT, and was stood up by the ref. Just like Thompson getting stood up when he had sidemount, except worse.
EliteXC is second only to k1 in terms of shady happenings.

What about Kimbo's second to last fight.
He was getting manhandled on the ground, basically gave up hoping the ref would stop the fight only to have the camera zoom out to the back of the arena mid fight and then zoom back in to a shot of Kimbo and his opponent being stood up.

Oh yea, I was pissed about that... they obviously have ref on their side. Was that the same terrible ref? Who stands someone up in dominant position while he's working for sub? Thats retarded. That's as bad as when someone has a back mount and has been unsuccessfully working for a choke and they stand them up. It shouldn't happen.

So Nelson should be permitted to lay n' pray his way through the round? Arlovski had the kimura blocked and Nelson was warned twice to improved his position and made no attempt.
It made no difference, Nelson was getting KO'd regardless.
No, that was a bullshit call by the ref. Nelson wasn't laying and praying - he was working for the submission and was not far from getting one. It was next to impossible for Arlovski to administer a KO punch while on his back. Nelson should have been given the opportunity to continue working.

Man, you have ann odd point of view imo.
Its like throwing a lamb to a lion.. Nelson had dominant position and was working a sub, if your in a position where you arent in danger, and are close to a sub, I would say you are in as good a position as you can be..
Improved position to the ref = Standing up?

They did the exact same thing to Renzo Gracie as he was transitioning into knee-on-belly. He was literally seconds away from raining down punches or hooking a submission on Frank Shamrock and the ref stands them up. It's obviously a organization mandated referee discretion meant to cater to drunk redneck fans that would rather be watching two slobs in a toughman contest than witnessing a display of studied grappling technique. That's why the Japanese fans are the best. They understand and respect all aspects of the game.

He had a kimura grip and sidemount, there is no acceptable reason to stand them up from there, ever, end of discussion.

Some joker was talking about he was warned to improve his position. I wanted to say "HELLO, HE WAS IN A DOMINANT POSITION, MAN!!! NO NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT!!!" . . . and, btw, he was workin'.
When Shaw went crazy when Kimbo was getting pummeled that says it all right there. Shaw is the Don King of MMA.
