I have to say I have a large amount of respect for him. He's taking on tough fights consistently. He's basically fought guys that it is VERY hard to look good against and competed well with them. I know people dislike him because he's been what they believe is too many close fights and got the decision in them.

I personally respect him because he doesnt back down from a challenge. I sometimes feel that people will never be satisfied no matter what ANY champion does.

He is continously giving us the fights that people call for. yet people still hate him. Even with the winky fight he immediately said he'd do a rematch.

Taylor is a tough dude that just wants to fight. Respect that. Pavlik is the legit number one, and again, Taylor is fighting him. he didnt duck him, he chose to fight him and THEN move up. Understand that and respect it people.

Personally, I'll be rooting for Taylor in this fight because I do respect him because he doesnt back down and thats not a knock on Pavlik at all. I also like Kelly, he's a tough dude that has alot of skill. it should be a good fight.

I think he will lose, but in no way, shape, or form does he duck anybody. The man has fought all champions/former champions in his last 5 fights and is about to take on the most dangerous man in the division. I have respect for his willingness to take on the best.

Yes much respect for Taylor even though I still believe my boy Hopkins was robbed. He fights the tough fights. And I actually think he'll beat Pavlik even though Pavlik looks like a tough dude. We'll see though. It should be a good fight and I can't wait

I respect that. I have no gripes with anyone saying he's going to lose as long as you respect the guy. We can debate the outcome of the fight, thats what we're here for. I just feel that some people, you wouldnt be in this category, needlessly ride him when he should get respect.

I remember like 4 years ago, dudes in the weightroom were all saying "Taylor is the next big thing" and I was agreeing. That's when he was knocking guys out. Now, the average Joe hasn't even heard of him. And this is the Middleweight champ.

Taylor deserves his props. He fights anyone coming up at him. He really is good for the sport. I just think his days are numbered though. JMO

Keep in mind, EVERY fighters KO% goes down as their competition goes up.

Its a hell of alot easier to KO some journeyman than it is to KO a Bernard Hopkins....or a Winky Wright....or a Kassim Ouma....or a Cory Spinks....or even a William Joppy for that matter.

You know what the total record is for those guys.

198-19-4 with only 3 KO losses

These arent just a collection of bums he beat (drew with). He has taken on the best continuously...and has ducked NOONE!

Plus, the average person doesnt know who Paul Williams is, or Mormeck, etc. That doesnt speak on his skill level.

That's pretty much my take on him. I really don't have anything against Taylor and he gets props for taking the fight- I just don't see him winning this one.

Taylor has acted like a true champion. He couldve easily gone after the first hopkins fight and fought undeserving mandatories.

And contrary to the beliefs of all the biased fans here, he has never received a gift decision. Every decision in his fights have been correct.

I've been saying the same kind of things for a good while now. It's amazing how much disrespect a guy like Taylor gets when facing top opposition and how much credit guy's like PBf get for not doing so.

I picked against Taylor twice with Hop's and again with Wright, so I'm not biased towards him, i was simply forced to respect the obvious:good

Although??? Due to locale and friendship's with those in Youngstown who have been down with KP from the beginning?? I'm rooting for Pavlik.

If Taylor does win?? He'll have once again beaten a very tough, top guy.

i was one of the ones knocking Taylor for fighting Ouma and Spinks, but he has stepped up to the plate against the legit #1 contender in his class...i just wanted to see Taylor against a true middleweight with power, and i have my wish...i believe Taylor will beat Pavlik, and his jab will return in this fight...

You gotta give Taylor credit. The guy has faced the best fighters for over two years strong. Some people say he has fought smaller weight guys, but who hasn't? They were two of the best fighters at Junior Middleweight, who were extremely tough to beat. He hasn't had a KO in awhile, but again, when you're face top notch opposition, guys who can fight, the KO will not always come. The guy has speed and power and is not afraid to fight anybody. I still wonder about his chin, though.

thats exactly how I feel. He hasnt looked great but if you look at his competition, they are the kind of fighters that it is hard to look great against and he's done well.

the hate for him is unwarranted I think.

Taylor deserves a lot of respect and he's one of my favorite fighters right now. I don't understand why anyone would hate him unless you're a Winky fan or a Hopkins fan(which I am but still don't hate Taylor).

We're giving him credit for doing what fighters do FIGHT! Legitimate opponents.? He is the middleweight champ of the world & his last two fights were against 147-154 fighters? He had to fight Hopkins to earn the crown and then fight him in a rematch (a clause in all champions contracts) Winky is tough, but no power at all & Talor was fighting the #1 contender! I was one who didn't see him taking this fight, but my hats off he's doing what he is supposed to do fight the #1 contender. Kudos to Taylor for fighting who you are supposed to!

Hopkins was not robbed. He was manhandled by Young Taylor and a lot of male Hopkinssexual Bitches have heartburn with that.

I thought it was Oscarsexuals??? Cant we be original enough to think up something new....

Did you see Spinks against him.

Spinks ran the whole goddamned fight.

The Spinks and Ouma fight mean nothing at this point.

Taylor is facing Pavlik and if Jermain is nothing more than a hype job then he should be easily dispatched by Kelly.
I'm worried for the Taylor haters, though. They're pretty confident at this point that a Pavlik KO is a certainty. It could be rather painful after the fight if he Taylor manages to hang on and finish the fight and, GASP, maybe even win a decision. Ah, but then we can just blame HBO.

He gave Hopkins an immediate rematch, when he could very easily have played it safe, and taken an inferior fighter ij his first defence.

He then fought Wright immediately after Hopkins, when, once again, he could easiily have taken an inferior opponent.

And, those 157-154lb fighters were both titleholders at 154lbs, and could hardly be classified as "gimmie" opponents.

Taylor has, indeed, fought legitimate opposition, which is something champions are supposed to do. However, a lot of champions play it safe, and face journeyman at some point during their reigns. Taylor hasn't done that, and deserves creidt for that.

Well...he didn't take Joe Calzaghe's challenge for one.

Anyway. Not to be overly cynical or anything, but he hasn't fought for free. Most of these people he's being lauded for fighting just happen to have been some of the most lucrative fights he could have taken.

NO ONE fights for free. With that being said, Taylor could have fought scrubs and bums like Hatton and Cazlaghe has done for years and still made money. He fought good fighters, all former champions, and half p4p top 10 guys. You would really be hard pressed to find a fighter that has fought that tough since winning a title.

Finally, a thread that makes sense in regards to Taylor. He's fought good comp and wins. Of course I wanted to see him deck Ouma and Spinks, but Jermain had as much to do with him NOT knocking out Ouma and Spinks then they did. Ouma is tough as hell and Spinks runs like hell.

I do not like Taylor's style, I don't like how he wins when I think he shouldn't, but I have nothing against the guy, I don't know him.

One thing that is good about Taylor is that he takes on very good or great fighters every time out, no breaks, and I like that.
