I decided to buy tickets. I thought 'fuck it'. I'm going to take my missus. It's her first boxing match and I'm relying on Haye to perform. Apparently the O2 Arena is amazing.
What are the ticket prices?

I paid 50 quid plus service charge makes its 55. Tickets go up to £750 or something silly. My mate went to a prince concert and said that anywhere you are is amazing so I'm taking the risk. I'm basically in the same seats my mate was in and I'm thinking if he could see Prince then I should be able to see Haye.

I really dont think Haye is that big enough box office wise to demand such high ticket prices
it should be more like £250 ringside seats
this is not Tyson V Holyfield
this is David Haye who has had only one big show fight in this country - last time out V Enzo Maccarenelli
before then he was fighting in the york hall in front of a couple of hundred people
he is good yes - but not big enough star to expect people to shell out that to see him fight a non title fight against a heavyweight fringe contender

Buy the cheapest tickets and some binoculars from lidl for £10 and hey presto you are virtually ringside.

Haye beat the shit out of Enzo Macc.....................HAHAHAHAHAHA.
The show Haye headlined at webley agaisnt bonin was much bigger than enzo vs braithwaite.

True, ring side seat prices are robbery.

Apparently the O2 Arena is amazing.
I hope so.....it cost £789 million to build the damn thing!

He was top of the bill at Wembley Arena in his 11th fight and in any case the York Hall has a capacity of 1200 and I doubt any of his fights there were to anything less than capacity - the ones I went to were packed. Don't let the facts get in the way of some tedious hating though. :verysad

Most of the people at the Haye Maccarinelli fight weren't there to see Enzo (well, not to see him fight anyway - to see him get knocked out! :D) and I reckon Haye will be able to get the place at least 2/3rds full for the Barrett fight.
Going off topic slightly I actually wish Haye would fight in York Hall every time. I was at the Fragomeni fight and it was the best sporting atmosphere I have ever experienced bar non. The roof nearly came off when Haye won!

You don't expect a big crowd then.
How about a bot of sticking your neck on the line and giving us your ticket sale prediction now then?

I do expect a big crowd - you misunderstood me
I think he has overpriced ringside seats
when you can go to a calzaghe fight and get top price tickets for £250 for a standard fight
Haye is charging £750
I expect the bulk of the arena and the cheaper seats will be packed out
Maybe all the £750 tickets will be bought too
all I said was in relation to other shows tickets prices I think they are overpriced
I expect a big crowd
that Enzo Macc fight gave Haye alot of exposure in Britain

As Mr Bunce is so fond of saying boxing is a bums on seats business (apart from Sports Network WBO title defences which are more of a bums in ring business ;) ).
There is going to be a lot of demand for tickets and I'm sure there'll be plenty of people willing to pay the £750.
I avoid going to the big shows unless I get a free ticket as I don't see them as good vfm but then I'm not very rich. If I was I'd be snaffling up front row tickets.

i wonder if this will be a more successful promotion than Sports networks up and coming promotions

Cleverly v Oakey and Brook v McIntyre? It's obviously going to gross more than those, but I know Haye was having problems getting HWs over for reasonable money.
Not sure of the finances on the Haye bill but wouldn't be too shocked given that he's trying to make a name for himself and get the Wlad fight if the event didn't make too much money.
It would depend how much Haye as fighter took out of the profit for the event ie chose to receive most of his pay as fighter or promoter.

Flint - "that Enzo Macc fight gave Haye alot of exposure in Britain"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be implying that Enzo was a bigger name than Haye going into the fight...

Thats not what I was implying
I meant it was a big show - that gave both fighters exposure
But for Enzo it was a disaster exposure
And for Haye he got to "shine" in the glory like a Peacock with his feathers all displayed
But now you raise the subject
I dont think that either of them was that big a name to the main stream
But Enzo had fought on much bigger shows - even against poor opponnets like Bobby Gunn

ive experienced the 02 with the Prince concert and hjaye vs mac!
I sat in the lower tier section, and it was very good! Unsure about the upper tier, looked a bit "out-there"

If he can sell them then, by definition, he is.

Ok - I did say that
what I mean is - I think he is overpricing them there
but sure there will probaly be some rich guys that snap them up - by defention he would be worth it
but I think in relation to other ticket prices he is over pricing himself
he is not a seven figure earning fighter like Hatton and Calzaghe - not yet anyway

you will be able to see haye and barrett but thats about it i find watching fights that far away is very hard, seeing which punches land and dont land is a different kettle of fish

nice, the main reason i was put off is because if i went i would like to be reasonably close to ringside, and therefore the ticket prices would be silly. I have never been to the 02 arena but if what your saying is true about having a good view then it changes things:smoke
In all fariness to Flint whilst Haye is a better fighter and more known than Enzo Mac, their fight was touted as the biggest British fight since Benn and Eubank....now i know the real boxing fans knew this to be different.....but.....
I think the fight against Enzo has made Haye into a bigger name, than Haye beating Mormeck, even though Mormeck is/was a more distinguished champion than Enzo.

Of course this was a big media build up for both guys
Both topping the bill in a big arena
Enzo had mainly been on Calzaghe undercards
He topped the bill V braithwaite in the Cardiff international Arena - however I was there that night and the place was half empty
this was the first time either fighter had been up on billboards
this was both their biggest purses of their career
this was the first time it was them taking centre stage in a big unification fight
this fight had the pontential to make them both big names
however because of the events of the fight
Maccarenelli stock and reputation was badly damaged
while Hayes stock went through the roof to silly proportions - they were talking about him as if he was the son of god or something.
Heavyweight saviour , etc, etc.
The mormeck fight was in a foreign country with limited TV coverage
Haye wan - but win or lose - the average guy on the street would be ignorant to it
for haye beating Mormeck and winning the titles
the Maccarenelli fight was like a reward for his good work
a big show and a big payday in the media glare topping the bill at the O2 arena
everyone knew about this fight
blokes took their missus along for the night out
that kind of thing
it was a "event"
a prime oppurtunity for both fighters to make a big name for themselves
but Maccarenelli failed
and Haye delievered
