Valuev has relinquished his position as mandatory for EBU champ Virchis.
This bout will take place in Oldenburg, Germany.
Valuev is ranked WBA #1.
Bergeron is WBA #13, and his NABA title may be on the line.

Any thoughts? :bbb

It's on boxrec.com but that doesn't mean much.

I'll try to get a confirmation.

As long as it's not mentioned on Sauerland-homepage boxen.com i don't believe it's really "on".

Should be an easy win for Valuev. He can stay busy without giving up his #1 contender position. Bergeron could give some HWs trouble being a tall southpaw, but IMO he's mostly a poor man's version of Tye Fields (no, I don't think that highly of Fields).

How could the NABA title be on the line? Valuev doesn't live in North America, and I doubt the fight would even be in North America.

Per-Ake Persson confirms the fight, he was a reliable source in the past.

It's funny, Valuev seemed quite keen on this fight when he was WBA champ and it really didn't go down well here. Now, I'm kinda like "might as well" about the whole thing.

Big opportunity for Bergeron.

I'm hoping the Canadian boy pulls it off. But I'm also not holding my breath. I've never held Valuev in high regard, but my money would have to be on him if I actually bet on this fight. And its definately a big opprotunity for Bergeron. Hopefully he can make something out of it.

Bergeron isnt a huge threat to Valuev.Thats for sure.I guess thats why he was chosen to be Valuev' s next foe before he takes on a better known fighter with better skills than the harmless canadien.
I can still remember Bergeron's pathetic fight against an American no-hoper on the undercard of Balbi vs Dorin in Romania's capital Bucharest a few years ago.
No punch,no stamina,no skills,no defence,no chin-nada de nada!
Bergeron was barely able to win a point decision against a true no-hoper who only threw haymakers.
What a horrible fight it was!
Bergeron would have lost that fight that night against any european journeyman like Bugaj,Sukhoterin,or Saami.

Maybe Valuev fears Virchis?

Bergeron is a skilled southpaw who has a definite chance to pull the upset here if he's in top shape.

These are mediocre fighters. I'm sure Golota can very well fit in as substitute.

I wouldn't compare Golota to Valuev. Well...:think

As expected, back to fight over 20 bums then a decent challenge and either get another gift(out 5 others) or lose.

Maybe after a couple tune-ups, Valuev can challenge Wlad
