Has this mixed martial arts guy got the right stuff to succeed far in boxing? He fights on the undercard this weekend.

Has this mixed martial arts guy got the right stuff to succeed far in boxing? He fights on the undercard this weekend. You know, I still don't know. When he first started his boxing career, I was all for him to be champ someday. Looked like a stronger, faster version of Valuev. But after seeing some of his fights, I noticed that his defence is pretty wide open. However, I think he can take a good punch. So I am going out on a limb here and saying that he becomes a formidable contender someday, but championship material? At this point in time I have to say no. Not unless he can improve his defensive game.

This is how I see it. In addition to what you said, I think Ustinov fights with little fear and knows he can take shots to land his own.

I think Ustinov can be a top 10 heavyweight, but he's going to have to drop some weight, and round off rough edges to his game.

I agree with you guys. This guy has potential, but we don´t know enough yet to say that how far he can go.

I have to admid that when I saw Valuev few first times I would had not belived that he could do as well as he has. And Uistinov looks to be as good as that Valuev that I saw few first times.

Time will tell! Interesting prospect!

Ustinov doesn't impress me. He seems too slow and ponderous to cut it on the world stage, or even at the top of the club fighting level. He also lacks power.

My guess is that Ustinov is another Ty Fields.

Ustinov KO1 Julius Long. He made fairly easy work out of a seemingly overweight and defenseless Long. Not much of a challenge or chance to improve his skills and get rounds in, but still a win!

He seems to be very strong, have good speed and can take a punch. He needs to improve his defense and maybe drop a few pounds although he has shown good stamina.

He looks out of shape, how is his conditioning from you guys that have seen him?

I enjoyed what he did last night and will look out for him more in the future, maybe a match up with Virchis early next year would be good?

Just another Virchisstyle fighter; short on technique, weak defence and a heavyhitter.

Just another Virchisstyle fighter; short on technique, weak defence and a heavyhitter. I think he is tougher than Virchis though.

After seeing Ustinov again, I don't think he's going to win a belt. Guys like Chagaev, Ibragimov, and Valuev are a better.
