If we took the Toney from the Jirov fight and matched him with the Marciano from the Joe Louis fight, who wins this fight? I think Marciano plays right into Toneys counter punching defensive style and Toney is just as tough as the Rock.

Marciano was relentless, and would just keep coming inside and blast away at Toney's flabby midsection and beat on his arms as Toney stays on the ropes thinking he will be counterpunching. But Marciano was more scientific then most people give him credit for. He knew ways to wear down opponents and break them. By the late rounds, Marciano, though bloody and cut up from Toney's early success, batters Toney on the ropes, who can't lift his arms up to defend or counter because Marchaino has beat them all night, and he can't get out of the way because Marciano desrtoyed his midsection. Marchaino by TKO10.

Toney would look great for awhile...but this is a 15 round fight.
Marciano would break him down and stop him in the championship rounds, I think.
There's no way in hell that Toney stops Marciano at heavy IMO, so his best chance is to survive for a UD.

He'd be the first to stop Toney since that's never happened before. Style's make fights, and I don't like Marciano's style over Toneys, regardless of iconic status.

Why? It doesn't say what the duration is in the thread heading or opening post.

There's no way Toney wins this one.
Let's not forget that Jirov was ahead on Ledermans card after 10 rounds. The Rock smashes Toney to a career ruining decision or late TKO.

The problem for Toney is that he lacks the power to keep Rocky off him. Marciano won't respect Toney's power and he'll bore in constantly.
Still, Toney will make Marciano look ordinary and probably lose on a lopsided points decision, although he'd probably be pissing blood for days afterward. I think it would be quite a boring, frustrating fight to watch honestly.

I hope, for Toney's sake, that he gets bruttally KO'd early.

Rocky breaks Toney down and stops him without a great deal of difficulty, I think. TKO7 or thereabouts.
A better matchup would be Rocky vs Tokyo Buster Douglas. Can Buster pull it off? He's sure got a good chance.

Marciano plays right into Toney's hands and Toney's well ahead on points going into the last thiird, but that's when Toney's shoulders just cant roll anymore and the arms are barely up, he gets broken by Rocky at this point, thats how i see it
The CW Jirov was able to win four rounds against Toney, I don't see Marciano doing any worse

Toney is a master of countering and is tough as hell, but but that laying back shoulder roll is only going to go so far.
He doesn't have the power to deter Marciano. By the mid rounds, Toney starts taking the beating of a lifetime.
Marciano TKO 11(ish)

Marciano pounds out a convincing decision ... Toney strong and tough enough o=to go distance but lacks power to hurt Rocky ...

Marciano doesn't have the output of Jirov.

When people stay right infront of him he does.
Marciano inside 5 rounds. The Jirov fight was against--well, Jirov. A good fighter, but c'mon, Toney is no Charles or Moore. The Rex Layne who decisioned Walcott in 1950 kos James Toney. Toney's mouth made him bigger than ring skills did.

Nobody beats that version of Toney in 5 rounds.
