Achievments - Hatton
but I think Calzaghe would beat him in a fictional p4p fight. Ask again on Dec 9th though, all this could have changed.
Calzaghe
Hatton
Haye
In terms of PVP.

Joe is superior in every department technically

Calzaghe from a purely technical point of view is far ahead. He can be sublime to watch at times however Hatton's scrappy 100 mile an hour mayhem style appeals to me more personally.

Hatton has better achievements and ability.
Why mention Calzaghe with Ricky? This guy has just trodded along for 14 years bitching that everybody's ducking him or that his hand hurts, it's a disgrace.
Calzaghe 7-1 Hatton

Hatton has two great wins but achievement wise he has not done more than Joe.
Some seem to think beating Castillo and Tszyu says Hatton has achieved more than Joe.

Calzaghe. Hatton's resume is no better really. Two excellent opponents, one a little past his best, and Joe's is identical.
Which doesnt say much for Calzaghe given he's 6 years older than Hatton.
I rate Calzaghe but theres a shocking lack of quality fighters on his record, meanwhile Hatton had Castillo and is now fighting P4P number 1 and at least has the chance to add plenty of names to his record. When Joe beats Kessler, ****** will line up another couple of nobodies to fight him at the Millenium then in a few years we'll be lucky to get Joe in one more big fight like Kessler and Lacy before he retires.

Calzaghe is definately number 1 and Hatton is going to get out boxed horrifically when he fights Mayweather.
Hatton has the bigger names on the record, but i believe Calzaghe to be the better all round boxer.

Hatton has Tyszu and Castillo
Joe has Eubank and Lacy
Joe at least showed his best against a fighter in his prime.
Be honest. Tyszu and Castillo are a league above Eubank and Lacy. Also did Joe ever beat the linear champ? Didn't the younger man Hatton get a ring title before him?

I put both around the same place in the P4P list. I think Hatton is at 6 and Calzaghe at 7.
Calzaghe beat a great who'd just been beaten and then he beat a prospect who hasn't re-proven himself y et.
Hatton has beaten a top10 140 pounder and a top 30 135 pounder.

Good question this. Hmm just off the top of my head il try a British top 10 P4P list.
1. Calzaghe
2. Hatton
3. Haye
4. Witter
5. Arthur
6. Froch
7. Macca
8. Woods
9. Lynes
10. Thaxton
I dunno, i got stuck towards the end and im still thinking i forgot someone.

I also believe Haye is the one for the future. Haye has real, real power, no matter if he's boxing at Cruiser/HW. DFavid has impved ten-fold since the loss to Carl Thompson. The loss was a wake up call & did him the world of good. I believe we have seen a more serious Haye ever since.
If Haye beats Mormeck, then he's in with a shout of being the best british boxer out there. Mormeck is recognised as the best 200lbs boxer out there.
However, Hatton has beaten Tszyu/Castillo, so for me, it's Ricky. Also, in Mayweather, Hatton will have faced a calibre of boxer that Haye, Calzaghe have never faced & possibly never will.

i will answer u on december 9th.
No you won't because if Hatton wins you'll be telling us who the best fighter in the WORLD is!
"TKO"

In Britain we were made to believe that Charles Brewer and Byron Mitchell were great US fighters
But none of the Americans even know who they are!!
GREAT U.S fighters, no. But the best U.S fighters around, world top 5-10 and former world champions. Good wins to have nonetheless.
If this thread has shown me anything it's that any wins can be denigrated if you try hard enough. Hatton beats a proven, established warrior with a great record like Castillo (and Tszyu for that matter) and it's "he was old, he was past his best". Calzaghe meanwhile meets a young, hungry reigning champ like Lacy who was on a tear through the division and the detractors say "he's unproven, never really beat anyone".
For the record, I think Calzaghe is the most talented and accomplished fighter in Britain, though the latter at least could change if Hatton pulls it off against PBF.

Hatton has achieved a little more than Calzaghe.
But Calzaghe is a better fighter.

I think JC - he's been a world champion for 10 years, thats an acheivement in itself, even if a lot of the competition he faced are not top draw. He's still fought a lot of good fighters.
Hatton obviously the very close 2nd best.

i have total respect for joe i think he is the best british fighter by far.
Both are #1 in my opinion, but in terms of accomplishments Hatton has obviously done more but skills Calzaghe wins it so both are #1.

Calazaghe by far,it's not his fault no ones been around at the time,Roy Jones was the only one Calzaghe can maybe be guilty for dodging, but he was a little too early in his career to box,Hatton's good but not in calzaghe's league

How can you dodge somebody who weighs 7lbs more than you
RJJ has been operating at 168 whilst Calzaghe has been fighting. RJJ was at 168 til the end of 1996, so they could have fought but he was still way way too green at that point.

How can you dodge somebody who weighs 7lbs more than you Because it's like an up and coming boxer now,if he just won the title for the first time, would he suddenly be thrown in with the best? no he wouldn't,and obviously being ****** they were not gonna risk so much so soon, but which promoter would? it would only have been calzaghe's 2nd,3rd or 4th 12 round fight.
Yeah it would have been absolute fucking suicide to chuck in Calzaghe with RJJ at 168 whilst he was there. This is about a full year before Calzaghe-Eubanks, so there is no way that he would have had the experience to deal with RJJ at this stage.
Whilst it would have theoretically been possible for the two to meet during RJJs stay at 168, it would have been very poor management for Calzaghe to fight him. Not even Calzaghes harshest critic could accuse him of ducking RJJ with any level of seriousness.
All I can say is that once JC has disposed of Kessler that he doesnt waste one of his few remaining fights on RJJ at LHW. That would be fucking terrible!
