Ok so , Kimbo is not an experienced mma fighter , we all know it. His fight vs Petruzelli was what...His 5th or 4rth fight ...right ? I'm not saying that's an excuse , but i will say that what eliteXC is doing with this guy's career is not his fault. They saw the + 7 million views on his internet vid..then +5 million , +6 million...etc...all his vids generate millions of views..What they saw , was a cashcow. Another Mike Tyson (even though it's not the case in terms of talent , but like Tyson , he generates massive interest...)
But personally , i find it hard to blame the guy...He's just jumping at a golden opportunity. But it's not like he's a total asshole is it ?...Have you listened to his post fight interview ?...or his interviews in general ?...He's the opposite of that "thuggish" image people love to label him as..
In the end , i don't think he's totally detrimental to mma. Yes , there's a lot of dumb fucks who think this guy is supposed to be a top fighter , yes , there's lots more clueless "fans" who are watching mma because of this guy...But the more fans , the better...What matters are the ratings...High ratings are always good ...for any sports.
The way i see it , i don't think the situation is deplorable since knowledgeable fans (people who follow the sport) , are not fooled by any of this circus shit...Everybody knows who the top dogs are in mma...Sure , it's unfair that a guy like him is getting so much attention but again , it's not his fucking fault.
