Carl Froch V Kelly Pavlik (at SM), who wins?
Also what similarities, and differences do you think these two have?
Perhaps it's just me but they both appear to have similar spindly physiques.
Both obviously have power as well - Froch holds his guard a lot lower though...
What do you think? Be interesting to hear peoples views...
Froch is not as skinny as him at all.

Yea, pavlik is a bit taller but they seem to have the same shape to me - perhaps it's just me. Pavlik wouldn't be as skinny moving up to SM don't forget. Froch would be as skinny making middle.

I really don't know, both fighters still have things to prove at world level to me.
Pavlik is not a bad opponent for him. Questionable chin, pretty basic technical pressure with no frills, leaky defence. Not difficult to catch cleanly, which gives The Cobra a massive chance.
On the other hand his low hands are worrying as Pavlik is an accurate straight puncher. Also his laziness could be a problem when put under consistent pressure.

Pavlik is so over-rated on the General Forum it beggars belief.
They seem to forget that not only was he one clean shot away from a second round blowout loss against Taylor, that he was also losing the fight pretty handily until the seventh.
The low left could cause Froch a problem, but if that was rectified I would back him to beat Pavlik.

Yea, I must admit that there are still more questions then answers with these two.
When I think of these two though I just see something similar between them both but I cant quite put my finger on what it is.

Froch cannot be ko'd :)
I'm not sure if he'd win more than 2 rounds v Pavlik. Pavlik has way too much for him.

I really have not seen enough from froch to be able to judge who wins this fight just yet - lets see how both of their next fights turn out then it may become clearer.

I've voted Pavlik on points, BUT Froch has decent power and could cause KP some serious problems...more so than Lockett at least :p

Froch is a murderous puncher.
I'd take Froch to take Pavlik's '0' if they ever met.
I've never been overly impressed by Jermain Taylor and just because Kelly beat Taylor don't really get me erect.
Little Ouma closed Taylor's eye and Spinks, a welter, nearly outboxed him over 12.

This would be a good fight. Kelly is the best middleweight around and Froch is a top 5 super middle so a fight between the two would be a must see.

this would certainly be a very interesting fight indeed one i have myself speculated many times before.
pavlik has the far greater work rate and is a very good accurate puncher with good power, and decent variation. However jermain taylor isnt the hardest puncher in the world and he very nearly knocked pavlik out. The fights with jermain also showed me that pavlik is not particuarly difficult to hit.
i am still unsure about froch, he has never really looked like losing and usually puts on a good performance which ends in a knockout, however he has never fought anyone close to pavliks level and due to him having low hands and being extremely lazy at times, he could find himself in alot of trouble
i see too possible outcomes for this fight.
either pavlik outworks froch and has him hurt, doesnt knock him out but goes on to win a reasonably easy UD
or froch knocks pavlik out reasonably early.
i think i favour the later

Very hard to make a case that can be backed up either way, I'd say. After the Pascal fight, we'll have a better idea how good Froch is. Pavlik might be overrated a bit by his fans here, but he is a top world class fighter, that is for sure.

i've got to go with pavlik at the min...
Either easy UD or stoppage.
I think froch has what it takes to beat Pavlik, however at the min froch needs to prove himself a little more.
So pav at the min.

Agreed
Froch is becoming over-rated
But I think one thing that gets forgotten is that Calzaghe / Froch / Hopkins actually represent a move up for Pavlik, will he lose something moving up?
Lots of variables to consider...
I think Pavlik's insistent jabbing and straight rights would make him quite a strong favourite to outwork Froch and probably break him down late

He probably will, because he will no longer be as strong or big or powerful, compared to his opponent. He walks around at 175, apparently. I am not sure about Hopkins, but he seems to fight best at 170+ these days, so he probably walks around 185+. Calzaghe walks around at 190 lbs. Not sure about Froch, but I'd be surprised if he didn't walk around at 180+, at least.
What we shouldn't also forget is that this guy Pavlik is still quite young and inexperienced and getting visibly better in almos every fight. Power also has a big technique component, for example. His jabbing's improved a lot too, in his last fight.
We are tempted to compare Pavlik to Calzaghe, but we shouldn't, really. If we compared Pavlik to Calzaghe when he was at Pavlik's present age/level of experience, we would't call him overrated as often as we do.

Difficult one to call. I'd probably go with Froch by KO especially bearing in mind he is a whole division bigger than Pavilk
