been scheduled for the end of September.

Can't say I know much about Nicolay's Canadian opponent. Any of you guys know a bit more other than he's #13 on the WBA rankings list and never fought outside of Canada?

He's tall, 6' 5", southpaw, has pretty good skills.

I saw him beat up 7' 0" Marcellus Brown, who is, granted, a journeyman, but he did well against a much taller opponent. Bergeron is a pretty decent fighter.

Does he beat Valuev?? Probably not. But, this could be a more competitive fight than people think.

I saw Bergeron live few times. Good skilled boxer, but his toughness is still a big question mark. He is so technical that he is boring. So, I expect a very boring fight with Valuev winning in a more anticipated competitive fight.

Bergeron used to have a lot of potential but some injuries slowed down his progress. He's been fighting bums after bums recently and remains untested. He sometimes seems to lack focus and/or stamina which gets him to throw one punch at a time instead of throwing combinations.

thanks for the impressions on Bergeron...so looks like it should be a comfortable points decision win for our big friendly giant friend from St Petersburg

Bergeron is tall (6'5") but he's pretty skinny. Valuev will most likely be ~100lbs heavier then the Canadian.

Bergeron is skilled but he fights scared. I'll be rooting for him of course but I don't give him much of a chance against Valuev.

Yeah. I saw Bergeron against Willie Palms (9-0) in 2001 and I was impressed. And Bergeron had a pretty good amateur experience. I thought that Bergeron was a real good prospect. I expected him to become a real TOP10 heavyweight. BUT now in 2007 I saw him against poor Chad Van Sickle and I was a bit of shocked. In my oppion Bergeron looked a lot worse than in 2001.

This fight against Valuev will be an missmatch. I give Bergeron no chance. I just canīt see him beating or giving even any trouble to Valuev. The best thing in Bergeron seemt to be his defence, so maybe he could run for 10/12 rounds and lose all rounds. But I doubt even it. I Valuev to win in about 3 or 4 rounds. Even an 1st round KO would be no suprice to me.

He has already boxed here in europe ,too.ON the undercard of Balbi vs Dorin in Romania's capital Bucharest a few years ago.His opponent was a black american no-hoper whose name I have forgotten.
Bergeron looked horrible against that guy barely able to win a close point decision. No stamina,no punch,no chin(whenever that american hit him with one of his wild haymakers Bergeron looked to be on the point of taking a dive),weak defence,no jab-nada de nada.
Any decent european journeyman like Saami,Bugaj,or Sukhoterin would have defeated that version of Bergeron that night in Romania's capital Bucharest.

Read that Povetkin vs. Byrd may be on the under card. Byrd's only been knocked out the one time in 8 years, but in my estimation, he fought a terrible, terrible fight that night, against style and against the wrong opponent. If he comes in, regular old Chris from before (and why wouldn't he) it will probably be as one sided as the Donald fight, but I wouldn't put it past Sasha to win by KO if Byrd opens up a little bit defensively.
I say this every time but what an opponent for Povetkin to be taking on even if Rapid Fire has lost some, he still knows more about defense than most heavyweights could ever hope to learn.

Povetkin vs. Byrd on the UNDERCARD of Bergoron??? :nut Jesus... And what happened in the rematch of Wlad vs. Byrd? Didnīt Byrd get stopped? Against Ibeabuchi Byrd fought a beautiful fight until he was cought. He was actually winning the fight in every judges scorecards.

Don't drink and post Artani. I believe there are like 10+ replies when this thread started... all about the limitations of Bergeron and what we expect of that fight...

I saw Begeron in like 5 or 6 fights. He lacks power, has fought mainly the c category fighters and lost in a Olympic against Atilla Levin (Who was destroyed by Valuev). Nothing to worry about.

Atilla Levin was very sucesfull fighter in the amateur. When you start to watch boxing.

Wow, I didn't expect this fight so soon. Where did you read that???

I feel like Povetkin has the style to trouble Byrd, considering his aggression and forward movement. It would be great if this fight came off, but would suck if it's not on American TV.

Sure Artani, sure :nut
Like your hero Krasniqi was a great amateur but failed on prolevel, so did Atilla Levin.
But it is kind of strange isn't it for you to ask me when I started to watch boxing when you are in need for any information about Francois Bergeron ...
btw asking for information about a fighter when 7 or 8 replies are already in he same thread is also quite remarkable...
Let me ask you this...When did you start trying to read ... if it was on school you would better ask your collegemoney back :hey

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahaah. Artan your making your self a true Don Kishot my friend. Cmon stop talking and writing and leave this forum .

It's not that hard to stay undefeated when you're fighting bouncers and cabdrivers. Also, he's big, southpaw and awkward, so he's probably a tough nut to crack for fighters who don't have much experience. Seriously though, the BEST fighter he's ever fought was Chad Van Sickle. A physically imposing fighter with a little talent can amass a very good record when all he does is fight scrubs - Nicolai himself can attest to that, as can others like Roman Greenberg, etc. who are no-hopers with bloated records.

In any case, this fight shouldn't even be competitive, if it happens.

bergeron is a solid standup fighter with no real strength. relatively untested also.

i say valuev wears him down and stops him in 8.

Willie Palms was much better than Van Sickle. Chad was way out of shape and he did not even try to win the fight. Palms was in shape and he tryed real hard too.

That's not saying much more than what I said before :yep

Point is that everyone he's faced has sucked. Also, everyone he's faced have been prone to the KO (other than Hawkins, who has a solid chin), and the fact that he wasn't able to KO 8 of them means his power ain't all that either.

Well... If you have seen him fight then you know that he has no power. No donīt need the see his record for that.

Bergeron is very tough, he is slim yet tall.. he can fight , he is capable of handing a tough night to anyone.. Valuev really did select a live body..

You posted in the general forum that Bergeron was "horrible" and would get ko'd. Which is it? Or you were you just talking shit about a fighter you'd never seen?

Just curious.
