I have only seen two of his fights. He had Hearns in bad trouble on

a few occasions and was giving Hagler a good fight until the punch or thumb

closed his eye. How good was Roldan?

Roldan was good, a top contender when there were some tough middleweights around.He hammered other good contenders like Frank The Animal Fletcher , James Kinchen, and a top light heavyweight JB Williamson , who held an Alphabet belt.Juan was a rough dude, a brawler, aggressive and busy.Even in his losses he gave a good show, always a tough fight for anyone who took him on.

Roldan was one of the first guys I took an interest in when I started following this great sport. I was (and still am) a huge Hagler fan and I remember thinking if this guy gave Marvin some trouble he must be a decent banger. Very awkward style always looking to wing those punches from wide-out and at unpredictable angles.

He had a great fight with Tommy and I hear his bout with Fletcher is a good 'un. I also note he KO'd Hugo Corro (R.I.P) inside the first in Corro's unsuccessful comeback.

Alex Ramos had MAD POW in both hands but unfortunately never fulfilled his promise. He was at one time said to be the hardest banger at 160 with either hand even tho he didn't have a substancial pro win at the time. Big hitter, but mad rooter to boot as well

roldan was pretty unlucky his title shots were against hagler ,hearns and a peak michael nunn. in another era he could have been champ perhaps

Who said he was favoured to beat Hearns and Hagler? Better still, what fighters WERE? Also, you're getting old or aren't as well read as i thought, Ramos had quite a train going for a while early on.

The thing I remember about Roldan was his strengh.He had a way of manhandling people.Which is why I would love to have seen Dwight Davidson fight him for the simple fact of seeing who was stronger.

He could have been champion for a few title defenses in another era. Juan Roldan fighting today with over 60 fights and his power would have been pretty exciting. He might be a popular fighter now.
