unless someones gives holyfiield a title shot late in 2008, Foreman's records will remain
Foreman won the title at 45 years, 9 months, 26 days
Holyfield is getting a shot at 44 years, 11 months, 24 days
maybe if holyfield loses a SD and has a gap filling fight and takes on Sultan a year later he could beat Foremans record.

Foreman won the REAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
Holyfield is fighting for a WBO title.
Of course if he wins he plans to take on the other titlists and establish himself as the real champion.
It's unlikely that he'll do that though. Still, I guess only a few people have a better chance of doing it at heavyweight at the moment.

Holyfield got robbed against Valuev that would of had him break the record. What does this tell you about the current Heavyweight era?

He would have been in now way the lineal champion. Holyfield would have ben destroyed at any stage vs vlad.

I could actually see vitali make a comeback for this in 5 years just to break that record if there are some weak beltholders which is really possible.

An incredible accomplishment! I don't think Foreman gets near the credit he deserves :fire When he beat Moorer at age 45, he busted the record books and engraved his name into boxing immortality :thumbsup
Oldest HW to win a championship title (45 years)
Largest age discrepancy for HW title fight (19 years)
Longest span in between HW titles (20 years)
He's also the oldest HW to lose the belt :bbb:!:
I doubt we'll ever see this again in HW boxing fight fans! :-(
Here's to Big George :good

it tells me don king is a corrupt cunt and thats the only reason valuev had the fucking wba title to begin with..valuev is prob one of the worst champions of all time..and all because don king wanted to make money on his freak show..so please revert to sucking cock as ur nonsence post means nothing..foreman winning the title then shows how poor the division was that a fat has been came back and won a fucking title..but yet it was meant to be superier just because the so called bigger names actually fought each other??please tell your story walking

Stupid post. Valuev beat ruiz on a questionable decision, moorer beat holyfield on a questionable decision. Foreman beat moorer at a record breaking age. Holyfield beat valuev at a record breaking age.
The comparison is valid and you can't use one to deride one era.
The reason the 90's was a great era is because it had names like foreman, holmes, holyfield, tyson, lewis who are all top 15 heavyweights. It also had bowe who is a top 30.
This era has wlad, who is top 15 and vitali who is top 30.

LOL, i am glad you pointed out this double talk because I was about to. To add to your point Big George is one the herdest punchers of all time. Its more likely that someone in their mid-40s with massive power could KO a younger man than he should be able to out box them. Power is the last thing to go.

Moorer was not in the top 5 of the 90's.
No foreman disappeared into obscurity.

I think Holy fought a great fight against Valuev. He stayed right up against Valuev the entire night, never allowing the beast to get a clean straight shot on him. All the while, Evander threw shots on the inside clearly (IMO) outpointing the giant.
The ringside judges didn't agree. They saw Holy's punches as ineffective and thought that Valuev did enough on the outside to earn the decision. I disagree, as do most, but it what it is.
Foreman was heading for a wide UD loss to Moorer. Moorer was easily outpointing Big George, even hurting him from time to time. It ended in dramatic fashion. Had Holy done the same thing to Valuev we wouldnt' be having this conversation I suppose.
As for comparisons to the level of talent......Cmon. Look at the 4 major titles, and count the # of champions holding the 4 major belts through the 90s.
Then count the same # from 2000-2011. It is clear that the total Klitschko domination is far superior to the pass-a-strap era of the 90s.
If Wlad and Vitali were never born, there would be 20 different Hw titlists holding there major titles, just like there was in the 90s.:-(

i don't understand this "it is what it is" mentality. anyone watching the fight can see holyfield deserved to beat valuev.
in the 90's, between bowe throwing his belt away and foreman going into onscurity the picture got a bit murky. but once tyson came out of prison it wasn't so murky any more, he blasted his way to the top and was clearly number 1. as was holyfield when he beat him, as was lewis when he beat him.
so 93-95 maybe it got messy, but by and large it's quite clear douglas->holyfiled->bowe......tyson->holyfield->lewis.
int the 2000's it could be argued it went lewis-rahman-lewis...vitali...byrd->wladimir just as much "strap passing" as you put it.
Not to mention Lewis completely unified all the claims, including a win over Akinwande who was the wbo champ.
to declare this era far superior is crazy imo. wlad will most likely overtake the heavies back then, but the talent pool just isn't as deep.
bowe and vitali have similar-ish resumes. bowe is considered to have a piss weak resume in comparison to the 90's, vitali is considered to have the second strongest resume today.

course it changes it. when i see holy school valuev i don't suddenly decide valuev won just cos some judges saw different.
the guys are fighting each other now tho

yes but wheres pov v helenious then pov v haye pov v adamak..if pov cleaned out the heavyweight division hes be considered a top guy then fighting wlad would be great..surly u can see where im going with this..example of what i mean..holyfield and lewis beating all the same guys they fight which means they are fight greats of there era...which ppl keep saying wlad dosnt do for the simple reason the contenders dont fight each other often enough...outstanding technic fortuntly for me ive yet to face anyone who could pull that out of there locker tho i reackon i could have saved it lol

No, Lara got robbed, no doubt, but you're not understanding me, what can WE do about it????? NOTHING, so it is what it is, its inevitable, robberies happen, if boxing had like a fan poll online (HBO or Showtime) after every questionable decision, and the decision would be overturned, then yea, we could be able to do something about it, but we can't :nono
