Has Anybody Recorded How Fast They Can Do A Mile ???? I Got 8 minutes and 35 seconds.... And I Dont No If Thats Good Or Not So Im Askin Yall So I Could Match Up My Time.... 1 More Thing Im 5'8, 204 Lbs. What Weight Should I Be Considering My Height??? Im Thinkin About 180- 190 Lbs, I Feel Thats The Weight I Could Be The Most Comfertable.... ???????
Everyone's body is different. You don't need to worry about weights for boxing until you are fairly experienced. Just get in boxing shape, eat right and see where you comfortably end up.

..............I agree with Amy, it's all relative; timing a mile is a fun thing, but not necessarily an indicator of real fitness.
My hunch is that as you continue to train and lose those extra few pounds you refer to, you'll see that time dip. Keep at it.
We used to have to do a mile and a half in the army with 1/2 mile warm up, I believe my fastest was 8.09, that was a good 2/3 years ago though.
As said above though just concentrate on getting fit and eating right and just try to stay motivated by mixing it up a bit, you don't want to get bored with it.

I did sports relief mile a few years ago in 6 min 11 secs, thought I was doing pretty good until a 14 year old stormed pass me. Not sure what I could do it in now but am 7lbs lighter so I suspect it would be a little faster.

thats a very good time compared to what I do - I'm guessing your run is all on a flat surface in the army test is it?

We did it on various bases, but the one where i got that time was pretty flat yea, just with the odd incline/decline here and there.
In different camps it's different courses so your time tends to change.
I remember one of the 264(SAS signal squadron)) lad's doing it in around 6 and a half minutes, now that's just a sick time.

You'd be a very small heavy at 5'8". Then again, Qawi fought up to heavy, and was a very good light-heavy/cruiser at just 5'5.

I like Pijo's avatar... oh yeah... mile runs... erm :P
The fastest mile ever run is 3:43.13 by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco in 1999.
The fastest women's mile is 4:12:86 run by Svetlana Masterkova of Russia on August 14, 1996.
I read that Floyd Mayweather runs a mile in 4 minutes... which when you consider that until 1960's no one had broken 4 minutes is damned impressive seeing as running is far from his specialised sport :)

My fastest mile (according to nike +) is 4.52. This was recorded during a 4 mile run + As I live in the mountains the 4.52 mile must be one of the downhill sections!!

i think to be considered fit you have to run a mile in 5-6.30mins ...roger bannister ran it in under 4 mins a few decades ago. however at 5ft8 and 220lbs dont mean to be rude but your bmi is really high for your height ideally you should be approx-170-180lbs.

6 minutes but I reckon if I was to run just a mile I could do it quicker.

same here
I agree I love running, I think it's great. As of now for myself now now just running on the treadmill before and after a work out. Maybe 3/4 a mile. I think running is great though and distance, sprint, competitions-hurdles high jump etc.

I wish I could read what everyone typed but I don't care. Plus I'm slightly drunk too. I'm 150lbs for the record
Army time 6 mins miles for 5 miles, but I never had a stop watch so I don't know myself. It all has to do with motivation.

...............In high school we had to do a fitness test thing, and they timed us for the mile. At the time, I was boxing, and doing roadwork in a rather pedantic, lazy style of jogging about five miles a day, everyday. I clocked 5:45 that day. It makes me wish I'd taken running more seriously for running's sake, but whaddya do.........
Now, at 40, I do a mile in 6:30, but it's improving. By the time I quit worrying about such trifling stuff I want to be at about 6:15, maybe even 6:10.
