Dean who?

LOL... good one dude.

Inkin vs. Balzsay is more interesting.... although of ofcourse also far from a superfight.

Another safe and easy defense for Erdei, when is this guy going to get out from his haven of Germany or Hungary and actually fight a known name. :-( Mega-fight maybe for Hungarians, that's about it.

Dean Francis wins this inside the distance.

When is Erdei going to fight a top10 175lbs fighter again?

Erdei probably hates the sport. Hates fighting.

The very minute when German TV-channels says to Universum: Are you really selling this fight to us as a world title bout? No way! Erdei is no real world champion and Francis is ranked #9 in Europe by EBU, he far away from a world class fighter. We will pay any more of this bout than we pay pay to you of the European titlefights.

When this happends, then Universum will get him a living body.

I've heard rumours that this fight will take place in Madison Square Garden, with Vitali Klitschko and Lennox Lewis fighting their rematch on the undercard!

Why are they spending money to the undercard? Nodody will show up before it is time for Erdei vs. Francis.

I'm forced to inform you people that once upon a time Francis was an extremely good fighter who may well have stopped Erdei.

This was over 11 years ago. Now I'm with you guys - it's a joke. I'm cheering for Francis btw - he deserves to very belatedly have a world championship belt.

Yeah, and why do Klitschko and Lewis deserve to fight on the same card as Erdei and Francis anyways?! No, why do they even deserve to be in the same place as Erdei and Francis?? They're not worth breathing the same air as the ATG legend Erdei - old shot bums that they are...

Please, do not mention those guys in the same sentence with Francis! :nono
You are being disrespectful to Mr. Francis!

Erdei has a serious debate with Universum, because for more than two years now they were constantly promising him a unification. The deal was almost made with Tiozzo before he retired. This spring, Green v. Erdei was almost done... after all, Universum failed to get a serious opponent and Erdei expressed his dissappointment several times in German press. Since then the relation between him and his promoters is not too good.

I just can not understand why is it be so difficult to make a unification with Diaconu or Garay? Let's hope Garay beats Brähmer so we can see Erdei-Garay III at least.

I think Erdei would probably school Francis to win a lopsided 12 round UD. He is a very defensive but at the same time very skilled fighter. He would certanly beat Diaconu, and I am sure even Dawson would suffer with him.

The deal was almost made with Tiozzo before he retired. Erdei is a great technician but he has never fully confirmed his good victory over Gonzalez. Injuries, stamina etc. : if Tiozzo had been the opponent instead of Sahnoune Erdei would have been KOed imo. It's very unusual but Erdei's management clearly said they wanted easy fights for their boxer after Sahnoune (who was just a protected SMW...)They were 100% successful but Erdei is now a paper champ.

Fitir, after the Sahnoune fight they said the next opponent would be easier... Erdei KOd Sahnoune with a hurt rib (hurt during his preparation) which Sahnoune broke during the fight. From the 3rd or 4th round his breathing was painful. That's why he suffered with Sahnoune.

Have n ever seen Dean live nor on tv so that I cant really comment on him and on his chances against Erdei, but he for sure doesnt have a recognisable name outside his native soil.Erdei should face better known names at this stage of his career.Anyway!

I quite agree with you on Inkin vs Balzsay. Far more interesting fight than the main event.

Erdei is truly one of my least favorite fighters. He single-handedly discredits the lineal belt.

Have n ever seen Dean live nor on tv I don't know Dean Francis but it seems he managed to lose against Barney. Barney is a limited SMW. If it wasn't not a robbery it says something about the level of Dean.
Fitir, after the Sahnoune fight they said the next opponent would be easier.. If only it had been the next opponent. Anyway it was a stupid move. Erdei had a good opportunity to unify against Tiozzo who just wanted to obtain a last big purse. Tiozzo was still dangerous, stronger than the guys Erdei defended against. But for a young skilled guy fighting an old boxer was not such a risk for a big reward.
And don't blame too much the management. If Erdei had really wanted better challenges be sure he would have obtained them.

the barney defeat was just before he 'retired' due a reccuring shoulder injury. think he pretty much fought that fight one handed after he dislocated his shoulder. its the same reason he lost to Undra White(he had a 4 year layoff after that fight, though a 2 year prison sentance also contributed to that!). he was a shit hot prospect before his injuries, i think eubank said he was the hardest hitting guy he'd ever sparred with.

his only real legit defeat was to Ballogou which was very early in his career.

Yup. He was a beast when decapitating good, ultra-durable fighters like Cornelius Carr, David Starie and Frederic Sellier.

Then came the Undra White fight where he dislocated his shoulder. After that he had to become a one-handed fighter.

his right looked in good working in order against oakey though. first time he's not looked reluctant to throw it for awhile. though his all round performance in that fight wasnt great.

Francis was a great prospect in 1997-1998. Accurate, powerful, efficient. Starie went 24 rds with Ottke and Calzaghe, Carr & Seillier gave Steve Collins some problems, Mark Baker lost controversially to Clinton Woods. Francis broke down all these guys inside the distance. He was being developed about as well as a British fighter can be developed, and was looking the business.

Less talented fighters than Dean won world titles - Glen Catley, Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall. Francis was unlucky that he got that serious shoulder injury. Many ppl still say that he was robbed v Barney, and he was fighting a spoiler one handed.

Francis was definitely one of the big British hopes ready to win a world title. He's come back well knocking out Oakey and McKenzie for British and Commonwealth titles.

It would be quite a story if he takes Erdei's title. Francis is a real competitor and I hope he pulls it off.

Erdei??? you guys call him a champion.... I know for sure that he refused a fight against Elvir Muriqi. The fight was supposed to be as always in Germany, but after he has seen Muriqi in the fight against Tarver I think he got scared.
