as far as I'm awear - yes
Faetter_BR
06-21-2007, 11:50 AM
Why make another offer when ****** accepted?
Because the first offer wasn't a ready to sign contract - when ****** said that they where ready Palle had his laywer write up the papers - there where a few demands added to ******'s "yes" - so that was included too.
What else can Calzaghe do If Mikkel knows he's In for a lesson?
Well it's Kessler's side that hasput their money where the mouths are so far ... atm we're waiting for ******'s reply - so if anybody is going to sending mexican bandits it should be Palle/Kessler... but then again why go through all that trouble for a WBO-belt? :hey

****** accepted the Denmark offer and Palle upped another offer I thought?
NO!
****** said he accepted the offer, but instead he increased it to 5.5 instead of 5.
Palle accepted these new terms and send the contract to ******. It is very in ******'s hands.
However two things still need to be agreed on, where they should fight (the fight could generate more money in Cardiff) and when. ****** want's a september date and Palle want's a november date...
To be honest. I'm still very much in doubt that the fight will ever happen..
Cheers
Every day for weeks now I check on here for news, ever since I heard the news that ****** had accepted Palle's offer.. Then Palle is in hospital... then Palle wants the fight in November... then Palle isn't sure if he wants the fight to be held in Denmark after all or not...
I'm becoming less hopeful by the day, but still, I guess no news is good news? :think
If this fight doesn't get made it will tarnish Kesslers career more than Joes. People will always rightfully ask "So why did you never face Joe Calzaghe?"
To which Kessler will reply, with tears streaming down his face...
"Because my promoter wanted a BEEEG PAARTEEEE"
"I'm comeeeng for you Calzagheee!!"
Yes of course you are Mikkel.. of course you are, shush there now.

Unfortunately, Palle reads what FW puts in small letters in his offers.
That said - both boxers will suffer from this - if it doesn't get made(which it will).

I just love these double standards and total ingoring of facts...
Palle has sent a ready to sign contract to ****** 12 days ago - a 5,5M$ offer - an offer which ****** had already "accepted" and it's Palle/Kessler that's to blaim???
This date-crap is just that - both ****** and Calzaghe has stated that November is fine by them - so there shouldn't be a date problem. Of course ******/Calzaghe is willing to wait a few extra months for a career-payday - if not then name me one fight that will pay Calzaghe 5,5M$ that can actually be made!
As for where the fight is to be held - well from day one Palle has said that Kessler will come to England if ****** is willing to make him the same offer he made Calzaghe - that offer still stands - and it's just that, it's not Palle being in any doubt as to where the fight is to be held!
Had it been ****** that had sent Palle/Kessler an offer 12 days ago without Palle/Keesler answering we'd have the first 10 Calzaghe-fans shouting "Kessler is ducking Calzaghe" - just in a much more abusive language - I'm still to see a single post saying that ******/Calzaghe has gotten cold feet...
We had several posters saluting ******'s masterpiece - when "he called Palle's 5M bluff" - now it turns out it wasn't a bluff and that ******'s acceptance might have been just that - a bluff...
But of course it's Palle/Kessler that is to blaim... :tired

Not only face, it would be crazy. It is currently the best way to generate the most money between them. There is money and glory involved and even the loser will have many options, because as it is they are both regognized as being in a level above everyone else. So the loser will still be very attractive and will still have all kinds of possibilities. It might even be easier for the loser to get fights than for the winner.
No reason why they should not get it on.

again you are wrong, but whats new about that..
on a sidenote, i cant see what palle has done wrong, he offered joe a big amount of money, then ****** offered the same, and then went back on his offer.. which in my book, makes him highly untrustworthy.. warre then agreed throught the media and every calzone fan was clapping their hands, because this surely meant calling palle´s bluff, but what did palle do, made an even higher offer.. so foe me its clear to see, who is doing the work to get thsi fight done.
why should he leak, they agreed on not doing the busines via the media..!! so when he does its amateurish, and when he doesnt he hasnt made the offer, no matter what scenario you would still be complaining..
the only time an things went to the media, after the non media agreement was when ****** went to the media and said he accepted the 5 mill..
shortly after palle stated the agrement from ******, wasnt a clear cut yes, so he upped his offer to 5.5 and probably wants the fight at the time of his 50 th year as a promoter
you did an excellent job of scanning the danis media then.. was on the danish national channels text tv, furthermore featuring in the sportnews, and even in several newspapers..
so your argument, is, well palle hasnt made the offer public.. therefore its true what ****** said about not recieving an offer.. that is, as written, fairly easy to diminish, as its been on tv, in several newspapers and for us who actuallt read the danish papers daily, is old news
I am not defending Blocky here (at all) but there is actually one thing that I find a little strange. Maybe it is not, but then explain to me why not.
Palle says that this is how it happened:
1. Palle sent an offer of 5 mill.
2. ****** sent an offer of 3 mill.
3. ****** then sent an offer of 5 mill.
4. Palle said "yes, thank you".
5. ****** returns and says "no, sorry, the numbers don't add up afterall".
6. Palle sends an offer of 5 mill.
7. ****** says "ok, you're on!"
Now...
8. Palle says that he agrees to ******'s new terms (5.5 mill.). HOWEVER! Palle has not made a contract yet. He has faxed ****** back saying that he agrees to ****** new terms and now he wants to hear if ****** really meant it.
_______________________________________
Bottom line: There is no contract for anyone to sign yet. Doesn't exist. however, the ball seems to be in ******'s corner and with all the "we hope that Palle can actually find the money"-talk, one should think that ****** would have responded straight away. I will agree with Blocky one one thing: $5.5 mill is a lot of money and the biggest purse that has been paid to ANYONE in SMW for decades! So.... I would sign asap if I was ******/Joe.

Guys,
I spoke with Joe this morning and he has arranged to meet Frank ****** to discuss the proposed bout with Kessler in the next couple of days.
As soon as there is any news or a possible agreement I will post an article on [Only registered and activated users can see links]
I haven't updated the site for weeks due to the lack of uncertainty surrounding contracts and if this continues then I'll simply write an article following a brief informal interview with Joe voicing his thoughts and feelings on the Calzaghe v Kessler fight.
For now all I'll say is that Joe is prepared to fight Kessler here, there, anywhere as long as he is given the remuneration that Mogens Palle offered in his original offer "5 million dollars NET + British TV rights" from September on.
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
I suspect the delay in gaining agreement on this offer is predominantly down to both promoters; Palle wanting the fight in November for the greatest birthday disappointment ever and ****** wanting the fight in September so all the money he's paid to wangle Carl Froch from Henessey sports won't turn out to be a sunk cost.

John:good

If Palle offers 5 mill, FW says OK, then Palle offers 5,5 mill, and then FW does not know to say yes or no. Then they are both ready for a mental hospital.
There are simply too many things we do not know or we only know the half trues and half lies.
And Blocky, no FW and MP does not feel that they need to inform you everytime they consider something new. So stop being so sure you know the truth.

Funnily enough - ****** is denying that there has been a contract sent and a quick scan through any (non Denmark) media shows that nothing has been stated by Palle to state he has sent it.
****** and Calzaghe won't be turning down 5.5 mil - the money is too good - and unlike last time, Palle hasn't 'leaked' the letter nor a contract offer to the source I used to get the last few contracts.
Chances are, more piss/wind and bullshit out of the Palle camp.
If the fight isn't signed by early July - forget about it, Calzaghe will move on.
So your theory is that Palle has only said it to the Dansih media thinking - the english media will never know, as Danish can't be translated at all... great theory there...
As for Calzaghe moving on ... where to??? - which fight outthere is going to give him just something that comes close to the Kesslerfight in terms of money and legacy??? - Inkin? Froch? :yep

Without any emotional attachment to boxing, I am better qualified than any fan to make judgement.
Well I have no emotional attachment to... um... say... tennis? So because I am better qualified than any real fans to make judgement on who is the Greatest, I say that Pat Rafter is the best tennis player of all time, considering his style was so much more up-to-date (serve volley) than say Pete Sampras, Andre Aggassi, Roger Federar, *insert great tennis players name here*...

Not to mention that Pat Rafter wasn't even the best Serve/Volley artist in his time....
But a Federer vs Rafter Wimbledon match would've been something - Rafter at his best was bloody magical, Federer is just clinical brilliance.Yes, but Rafter was too inconsistant - Federer is magical all-the-time. He is like a John McEnroe without the temper. Too bad he roams in a relative weak era.
DanePugilist
06-23-2007, 02:14 AM
All the players that you mention(and don't mention) save Nadal, are so inconsistant that I can't categorize them as more than good players. Hewitt seemed above that crop, and for a long time he did - and I am not talking about that Federer being the cause - he has merely stopped getting to even reach semis.
I agree that there isn't a rivalry save the one between Nadal and Federer. I am not trying to take anything away from their brilliance, but the fact is that none of the other players today match them, only on their good days, and Nadals and Federers bad days - yet they still win.
Such superiority has never been seen before. Hell, even in the days when Björn Borg was the king - he went through many 5 setters to win.
Summa summarum: Men's tennis suffers what the women's tennis suffered before - lack of a wide array of consistant top performers.
