View Full Version : Its Time For the Real Ricky Hatton to Show Up!
This is the fight, right? Im ready to see a classic Ricky Hatton performance. If he does not show up, I will be forced to abondon my expectations, and either accept that he was overated or he peaked just before starting to fight in the states.
me too!
GO RICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Collazo bothered me....
Urango solidified my doubt.
Hatton has quickly picked up the stigma of being a boring fighter. He cliched his way to too many victories (recently). I hope he's able to bring out that fighter that made interested in him to begin with. If he doesn't do it with Castillo.... he doesn't have it - IMO.

The Collazo fight wasn't boring, it was a tight affair with Ricky hanging on for dear life in the last couple of rounds. But he did enough to win, just.
Urango was a warm up fight, and was boring. Well, it wasn't at first. Hatton comprehensively outboxed the guy and looked like Sugar Ray Robinson for the first 6 rounds, he showed some superb footwork and side-stepping skill, throwing punches from angles that Juan Urango had absolutely no idea how to cope with. After that he got hurt to the body and decided to kill the fight off and clinch his way to an easy points victory. Cynical, oh yeah, boring, without doubt, but to be honest who cares? It was a warm up bout, he had a big fight on the horizon, and he chose to play it smart and not risk fucking the Castillo fight up. Even Ali used to do shit like that, doesn't mean the guy cant fight.
Ricky Hatton is not a boring fighter, why do you think he's been getting 20,000 + crowds at his fights for the last 7 years? Now Junior Witter, THAT is a boring fighter. You can tell the difference coz Junior fights in front of 200 people at Barnsley Metrodome whilst Hatton brings 10,000 fans with him accross the pond to LAS VEGAS. Wonder why that could be.
I think this fight will be extremely boring, jab and grab all night.

I think the best Ricky since the Kostya fight will turn up. Dont think Ricky can get any better than he did against Kostya...it looked to me that Kostya was the better man...just that Ricky was possesed and so determined nothing was gonna stop him no matter what. I see no reason for Ricky to wanna grab and hold Castillo...Castillo is just as good and dirty as him on the clinches, its gonna be a display of masterful pressure boxing.

That was my initail feeling but the more I think about it the more I fear that it will be an ugly jab n' grab fest.

Ricky will try to use his old tricks again fall in and hold but Castillo won't allow it too happen, becuase Castillo isn't afraid of getting down and dirty. He'll do the fouling here and I'm expecting Castillo to rough up Hatton in this fight.
Im expecting a great fight, hatton KNOWs he has to perform if he is going to keep his multi million dollar HBO contract. he has looked great in the build up and I think style wise Castillo is the perfect fighter to bring the best out of him.
i expect a rough fight, with dirtyy btactics used by BOTH guys, but I think we will see the better fighter win on the night. And that imo is Ricky Hatton.:smoke

Hatton to stop Castillo by 5th-6th. I'd say this is Castillo's last fight as a "big name". If he fights on after this, it'll be in a gatekeeper role for the up and comers.

Ben Rabah did all that too. Urango is a joke. So was Maussa.
