Rio de Janeiro - Two Cuban boxers arrested in Brazil after defecting during last month's Pan American Games will be deported back to Cuba, police said Friday. Erislandy Lara, 24, and Guillermo Rigondeaux, 25, told police they are "repentant" and wanted to "return home," authorities said. They were arrested a day earlier after disappearing during the games on July 21 and reportedly signing contracts with a German promoter.

Last I checked, I don't have a set limit on sympathy. It's not like I can only feel bad for 5 people this year.

Firstly, that's completly untrue. I'm sure they won't be getting medical treatment, full meals, access to religious materials, regular visits from the red cross, and the humanitarian treatment described in the Geneva Conventions. Secondly, they are simple boxers not terrorists. Are you happy that they are being sent back to Castro's clutches or what, you ridiculous twat?

People don't understand what the family of these boxers are going thru there are gangs of goverments agents screaming insults day and night they confiscated their homes one tv channel tried to contact them in Havana and they don't know were they are the pressure is unbearable Castro owns everything in Cuba including their people see what happened in Brazil he forced the delegation to leave early without their medals because fear of more defection Cuban delegation is always larger than other countries because half of them are security agents spying on their own people.

You see, that's the mistake! 90% of those so called ''terrorists'' are innocent.. We saw it even here in Europe..

Obvisously they will be used for propaganda. They will eather be made an example of to scare any pontitional escapeies or they will be shown off as people who fought off the evil temptitions of capitalism and America.
for their sake I hope it is the latter and not the first. I would rather see them both at the 2008 olympics however unlikly (I don't think anyone is going to defect in China) than learn that they are in prison for the rest of their lives or that they got exacuted.
