I love hopkins,but there's something about james toney that tells me he's the best at sh** talking,because he told everybody he was gonna beat the breaks off holyfield and he tko'ed him not even lennox or tyson could say that.

Remember he was a middleweight and he's at heavyweight taking guy's like peter's punches,not even klitschko could take peter's punches like toney did.

I also believe that toney would have beat hopkins prime for prime and i would have loved to see that fight.

Hopkins likes to talk and can talk a lot about stuff. As a shit talker though he doesn't really compare with Toney. Head to head, prime against prime, I'd favour Hopkins but I can see it being a close fight. Hopkins has so much more variety in his fighting style though and I can see him adapting a style which involves a lot of lateral movement to take Toney out of his element.

Toney was and is a more precise puncher than Hopkins. His arsenal is way more diverse as well. Hopkins relied on jabs, short left hooks, and counter rights. Toney could show all that and then some. Defensively he's better than Hopkins too, being more fluid at the lower weights as well as having legendary punch resistance.

No I don't, but that really isn't important...could Marvin Hagler? Probably not, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't as good as James Toney. All that means is that James Toney carries the weight better at HW than Hopkins most likely would.
