I saw it.Ali of course beats them all in his opinion with is to be expected. He did seem to have alot of respect for Tunney and Marciano though, citing Genes' boxing abilitys and his Scientific methods. He also mentioned his computer fight with Marciano and claimed that during there sparring sessions Marciano hurt him by punching him on the arms.Thanks.

(If Ali truly believed what he was saying is another matter. I assume this was the program which showed all the boulders around his training camp with the names of previous greats painted on them.) He did discuss Tunney's style as "interesting," and stood up to demonstrate how he'd have dealt with most of them, after reviewing footage with Cosell.

But Muhammad went on to tell Cosell that even if he couldn't beat Rocky, he was still the greatest of all time. (Howard simply said, "I see.") Ali actually has a strong claim to that, for reasons which go beyond how he would have done against all of history's other greats (such as how he was responsible for reviving boxing during his second career). In terms of impact outside the boxing ring, only Louis and Dempsey can compete in level of transcendence.

I believe this was the special where Jersey Joe Walcott stated on camera that Ali would indeed have beaten all of history's other champions, while Joe Louis provided an interview disputing Walcott's position. (I don't recall Louis mentioning himself, but that inference could be safely assumed.)

Ali also ridiculed the performers of the pre-Queensbury era, for their choking and other streetfighting tactics, using that rationale to dismiss them out of hand.

Yes Duo,he was at his training camp with Cosell and it seemed they were in the Mountains,at least in the Woods.Ali always seemed to be very respectful of Rocky, once calling Rocky his Idol when he was doing commentary with Don Dunphy at the Patterson-Chuvalo bout.Maybe Ali had some personal reservations about his ability to beat Marciano understanding how difficult it is to go un-deafeated throughout a professional carrer.Like Joe Frazier said "I beat Ali,and the only two who could beat me are Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano".Thanks.

Ali had sparred with Rocky and had the bruises to show for it.

He always had affection for the old man after that.

I was very friendly with Rockys little brother Lou and he was there when there filmed the computer fight and told me that Ali kept messing with Rockys toupee which started to make Rocky get mad from embarrassment and he said " I think that guys doing that on purpose" so he told Ali to knock it off and typical Ali he did it again which prompted Rocky to go at him for real and they started to exchange and Rocky hurt Ali to the body to the point of doubling him over and Ali got out of the ring and said " Im not getting paid enough for this". He and Rocky apologized to each other and Lou said that while filming they were like long lost friends always huddling by themselves in the background for hours talking and becoming very friendly.Later Ali would say he considered Rocky one of his only friends in boxing. He also said he thought it was a lot harder to catch him with the jab and he couldnt believe how physically strong Rocky was and that he was an old man at the time which even impressed him more.
