View Full Version : shock news: bhatia to face opponent with a winning record
akaash bhatia vs marc callaghan on 7th November
callaghan has lost his last four fights (pickering, munroe, lindsay and hyland) and is mostly likely shot to pieces, but this has to be a step in the right direction for bhatia. better than fighting 1 - 3 novices.
hopefully he'll move swiftly on to face english title level fighters next

A real winning record or like 12-10?
Callaghan's record is 19-14-1

Well it's about five steps in the right direction, but still not good enough.
Surely the kid wants to know how good he is, not how good he can look knocking out bums......

That record is embarrasingly padded.

Bhatia is a bum. He's nearly as bad as Tyrone Brunson. As soon as he steps up against someone with even a remotely good record, something like 20-6, he'll get beaten.

Maybe......
But better to lose and say you had a go, than do absolutely nothing.
That is why people have respect for guys like Danny Williams taking on Klitschko - because everybody knew that unless we saw an incident like in the Byrd fight, Danny was gonna be like a character in the kids game 'Guess Who'.

I like Bhatia but I doubt he can go above domestic class, he should be around the domestic title scene for awhile though. The division is pretty empty.

lindsay, appleby, truscott, owen, derry (!)

don't know about that. brunson handpicked opponents who he could ko in one round in order to break a daft record.
bhatia seems to have been conciously brought on...really..slowly

did bhatia have much of an amateur career? you could understand them bringing him on slowly if he doesnt have much of an amateur background.

He had a pretty short career, but did manage to get to the ABA finals in 2006 where he only lost a close contest to Stephen Smith, who's a very good amateur (now pro)
