Default Super 6 Already Paying Dividends: HBO to host 140-lbs. Tournament?

On the heels of the Showtime Super 6 Super Middlweight Tournament, HBO looks to counter with their own.

According to the Hype for Fights, HBO has begun talks for a jr. welterweight tournament that would feature:

WBA champ Amir Khan vs. WBA interim champ Marcos Maidana
WBC champ Devon Alexander v. Victor Ortiz

This is not round-robin. Single-elimination would lead to unification much like Don King's 2001 middleweight tournament which led to Hopkins unifying all 3 belts (WBC, WBA, IBF).

Just so you know, the other beltholders are Juan Urango (IBF), Tim Bradley (WBO), and Lamont Peterson (WBO interim).

Why dont Showtime stick Urango and Bradley in there too and start another super 6 tournament?

I doubt team Khan will take them up on this offer though. Full credit to them if they do.

Alexander is actually the one fighter who I don't think could upset Khan. Alexander is another fighter that relies on quickness and stamina, only Khan's quickness and stamina are better, and he's a longer fighter as well.

Either Maidana or Ortiz has more than enough power to KTFO Khan though, which is why Warren won't let Khan go anywhere near this thing, if it's not just an internet rumor.
