First time that I have ever seen that. Looks pretty innovative. Most people are looking to defend a rear naked from back control, so you could probably slip that one on them and catch them by suprise.

The problem that I see is that once people catch onto a choke and look for it. This will be easily defended by simply turning into your opponent once he grabs his own ankle. By him grabbing his own ankle, he has taken one hook out of your legs, and also occupied his other arm by reaching for his own leg. There is no way that you can hold someone in position while sitting behind them simply by having wrist control on one hand.

Interesting choke. It looks like it would be real hard to get on tho.

Thing is the person being choked would have to roll to the side where the hook is still in, if the arm is held on the opposite side this isn't easy, depending on how far back the arm is held.. Once you start leaning back you have the arm effectively isolated.. If you try rolling the other way it all depends on your ability to roll out of that hook thats still holding say the left leg down.. You try rolling right your leg is till hooked, you roll left your arm is chicken winged already.. The effective counter is simply forcing your own left arm foward, but that leaves you open to a regular rear naked choke..

I guess it would depend on how strong the opponent is, it all depends on controlling the arm imo. Also if you do roll over you might be rolling right in to a regular triangle choke.. Very interesting. I would rather counter it personally by keeping my left arm in front of me. You can over power that way since its one arm vs one arm. Very hard to control.

Yes, of course you would be rolling into your opponent, towards the arm that they have wrist control of. Wouldn't make sense to roll to the other side, as there is a hook in, and it would be easy for your opponent to roll with you. However if you roll into the side with wrist control, and sweep your free arm under his leg that he is lifting, then you could easily roll, shuck the leg by, and you would be on top in side mount. At the very worst, you would end up in their guard. You wouldn't get caught in a triangle unless you waited for him to bring up his other leg and lock it into position, or unless you rolled in lazy fashion and lingered in the bad position.

Its good to see more people coming up with ways to finish from the back, few things I hate more than to see somebody get the back for an extended period of time and not be able to finish to due refs being overly sensitive about strikes to the back of the head and the ability to fend off RNC's with wrist control being easier with gloves on.

You couldn't do that, you'd turn into a regular triangle choke there...

But I don't think it's a good move. You have his right hand if you have the liberty to release your left hook lke that, just pop it around his head and armbar it.

Its really retarded move. I tried it and all it really did was crank his neck/back. The way you set it up is really long and the fact that, like mantis said, you can stop in the middle of that move and just armbar him. And arms bars from back control tend to be REALLY deep so... why not just armbar.

Very dumb and overly complicated.
The best and most successful submissions are the easiest ones to execute.

I doubt that move would work in real combat unless against the most untrained opponent.
