Razor Ruddock was a one trick pony.
The left hand smash is all he had....... One trick pony's dont beat great Heavyweights! Honestly I was suprised that Ruddock gave Tyson so much trouble using the same punch over and over again. Knowing that all he has to look for is a left hand 45 degree uppercut, Holyfield makes easy work of Ruddock. Holyfield KO between rounds 8-10! |

If Holyfield can be hit by one punch it would have to be the "Uppercut"
which happens to be the best punch "The Smash" that Razor throws. The uppercut was also Tyson's #1 enemy his whole career, which is why Ruddock gave him prob's. Still I see Holy having too much for Razor. I say UD Evander Holyfield. (Ruddock's ability to take a Shot! and get up was nuts) |

i remember the first tyson v ruddock fight and razor gave tyson some real problems. he looked a real big powerful guy in there next to tyson and them uppercuts wow!!!!
holyfield is such a legend of the ring that i would find it hard to bet against him especially during his prime years. |

Styles defo do make fight's as Evander himself would say.. and if I recall Ruddock also had a sweet straight right hand, tho no doubt in the shadow of "The Smash" That being said, I agree with you bro Evander should win. But no one expected Bert Cooper to drop Evander either? (Styles) anything can happen in the Heavy's and styles mixture. |

Realistically speaking, Holyfield was a much, much better fighter than Ruddock. Ruddock has a punchers chance in this fight. If it goes the distance, he gets outboxed every time.
The problem with having a punchers chance is that it decreases as the chin of your opponents improves. And Holyfield had a legendary chin. Given that, Ruddocks chances would be very slim indeed. |

In addition, it never came as much as a surprise to me that Ruddock kept landing the same punch on Tyson. Iron Mike had become a stationary target at that point. No real head or body movement and no burning desire on his part to make any adjustments. Tyson left his corner after each round looking like a guy who was going to a job rather than a guy who really loved the sport. I actually watched the fights not too long ago and the thing that was most surprising to me wasn't the fact that Ruddock was able to keep landing but rather how Tyson was able to just absorb them without so much as flinching.

Its why Tyson kept eating that smash, and as I said, even a poor chinned Tommy Morrison was able to survive and beat Ruddock by KO! Even a fighter like Morrison with a very suspect chin, can brace himself for the mass power thats about to come at him, if he can brace for it. In turn, look at what Floyd Mayweather Jr. did to Ricky Hatton..... .....who would have thought that Mayweather could drop and hurt Hatton badly with a single shot???? Hatton lunged and did'nt expect Mayweather to check him with that hook, and it not only put him down, it put him on queer street, and on his way to being counted out! ....any shot by Ruddock you could see coming a mile away! |
