Default Very positive news for PRIDE FC!!

(well maybe)...

From fightopinion.com

By Zach Arnold

Nikkan Sports reported on Wednesday morning that the first show of the ’shinsei’ (newborn) PRIDE will happen on August 18th at Saitama Super Arena (the same ‘home’ building that DSE used). The theme of the show will be a “Japanese all-star” presentation, centered around Hidehiko Yoshida

Why on earth focus it on Yoshida when there are so many more deserving Japanese fighters out there? Gomi, Kawajiri, Aoki, Fujita, the list is endless.

Because He's huge over there.
Remember when He was paid $2 million just for fighting against Ogawa?

Trust me , it's pretty fucking rare to pay a mma fighter this much money just for showing up...Ogawa vs yoshida was one of pride's most expensive fight.
(aprox 4 million in total , not counting the bonus).

Yosh used to get paid $1million...there was a point where Fedor was the only one coming close to this amount of money...He used to make $800 000...then $1 000 000 back in japan...Don't know how much they paid him in bodog though.

Yoshida is not only a judo legend , He's a one of the most popular in pride fc's history (not counting Sakuraba). So it's still logical.

having said all that...no one knows for sure if this event is gonna happen anyway...but if it does...then maybe pride is not entirely dead yet.
