Tomasz Bonin wins Polish heavyweight title

28.10.01 - Last night in Pruszków, Poland, the experienced former German champion Mario Schiesser, 38-7-1 (26 KOs), was outboxed in good style over ten rounds by Poland's Tomasz Bonin, 8-0 (4 KOs), who won the vacant International Polish heavyweight championship.

Bonin dominated the fight from the first bell, although the German managed to land some good shots in later rounds. Also, Schiesser tried to unsettle the former amateur Polish super heavyweight champion by holding, pushing and headbutting, but to no avail. Bonin's ambition, determination and superior speed proved too much, and he won a comfortable 10 - round decision. It was the longest distance the Pole has gone as a pro so far (he has been fighting four - and six - rounders by now), but has successfuly passed his conditioning "examination" as well.

The undercard:
Heavyweights: Roman Bugaj, 11-2 (9 KOs), outpointed (W 4) Robert Selgu (Czech Republic), 3-2, after a tough fight.

Krzysztof "The Fist" Ogonek, 2-0, outpointed (W 4) Zolc Varadi (Czech Republic), 1-1

Cruiserweights: Krzysztof "Diablo" Wlodarczyk, 11-0 (8 KOs), outpointed a tough and extremely durable Wladi Druso (Czech Republic), 5-4

Junior welterweights: Krzysztof Bienias, 8-1 (4 KOs), stopped Karoly Lakatos (Hungary), 2-2, in the second round. KnockOut Promotions Poland
