New professional boxing commission in Turkey; Four ARENA fighters in action at opening ceremony tonight
On June 16th, 2007 ARENA Box-Promotion held the first professional boxing show in Turkey in almost 30 years. The event featured fighters like Turkish welterweight prospect Selcuk Aydin and “The Black Panther” Juan Carlos Gomez and was headlined by the main event WBC International Championship between Sinan Samil Sam and Oliver McCall. The sold-out show in Ankara caught the public interest all over Turkey so Caner Doganeli, president of the Turkish amateur boxing board, decided to found a professional boxing federation supported by promoter Ahmet Öner..
Now Öner and Doganeli can reap the fruit of their hard labour. Tonight (Friday, Feb 15, 2008) the Turkish professional boxing commission will be officially founded with a big gala in Istanbul. Besides celebration, music and good food there will, of course, be boxing bouts at the opening ceremony featuring ARENA’s Turkish stars in the following bouts:
Heavyweight:
Sinan Samil Sam (28-4-0) vs. Mazur Ali (5-0-0)
Light Heavyweight:
Firat Karagöllü (6-0-0) vs. Andrey Tylilyuk (2-27-2)
Middleweight:
Mustafa Karagöllü (10-1-0) vs. Ihar Filonau (7-8-0)
Welterweight:
„Mini-Tyson“ Selcuk Aydin (12-0-0) vs. Leonti Vorontsuk (16-29-1)
