Froch Stops Taylor!
By Seth Green: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (25-0, 20 KOs) successfully defended his title tonight with a 12th round stoppage over former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mashantucket, Connecticut. An exhausted Taylor was caught on the ropes in the 12th and taken out by a storm of punches from Froch, who was behind in the fight at the time of the stoppage. Referee Mike Ortega stopped the bout at 2:46 of the 12th. At the time of the stoppage, Taylor was ahead in the fight on two of the scorecards by the scores of 106-102 and 106-102. If the referee had let Taylor finish the last 14 seconds of the fight, Taylor would have won. Froch fought poorly in the first half of the fight, getting dropped in the third and needed a knockout to win in the 12th. Although he got the win, Froch was far from impressive.
