Trabant to defend European belt against Hassan Al
25.09 - Berlin - European welterweight champion Michel Trabant, 37-0 (18 KOs), will make a mandatory defense of his title in front of his German fans in November.
Challenger of the Berliner will be Arabian born Dane Hassan Al, 28-1-3 (11 KOs). Al who is promoted by Denmarks Mogens Palle is also ranked #5 by the WBO.
Im eager to fight in front of my fans in Germany again, Trabant said. Im looking forward to working my way to a world title shot sometime in the future. Im very happy my management was able to get my mandatory defense to Germany. I will show my German fans a great fight.
The 23-year-old Trabant captured the European welterweight title on April 20 from reigning champion Christian Bladt via unanimous decision over 12 rounds. The fight between the Dane and the German took place on neutral ground in Poland.
In his first title defense Trabant fought in his home town Berlin where he stopped Hungarian Jozsef Matolcsi by technical knockout in the 5th round on August 17.
The undefeated German is ranked WBO #1 and WBA #3.
