Sprott Pulls Out Of Skelton Fight
Michael Sprott has been forced to withdraw from his Commonwealth Heavyweight title challenge against Champion Matt Skelton this Saturday at the ExCeL London through injury. The Reading fighter injured a muscle in his left leg during a training session late last week. Following expert medical assesment Sprott has been advised not to go through with the fight and to rest. The injury is not career threatening and Sprott has been told he can resume training in a couple of weeks..

Therefore, in light of the main event fight falling through, Promoter Frank Warren has postponed the ExCeL show and a new date will be announced shortly.
Sprott said, "I'm absolutely gutted that I have had to pull out of my fight against Skelton. Following my great win over Audley Harrison I was looking to build on it and hopefully get a world title fight but that is on hold now. I really wanted to fight on but the pain was too severe to continue training and I would not have been fully fit in time to take Skelton on. The decision was made by my team and I respect that. I now aim to fully recover from this injury and resume training and await a new date."
Warren said, "It's a big disappointment to the fans and everyone involved that Michael has had to pull out of the show but an acceptable replacement could not found at this late stage. I will await news of Michael's treatment and when he is fully fit to box against a new date will be announced."
