Cotto too much for Judah!

09.06.07 - By Scott Frake: WBA welterweight champion, Miguel Cotto (30-0, 25 KO's stopped Zab Judah in the 11th round tonight at the Madison Square Garden, in New York. Judah started off well, winning the first round easily over the slower Cotto. However, Cotto did what he often does when he gets hurt, namely throw low blows, which he effectively did to slow down Judah's attack by tagging him squarely in the groin..

miguel cottoJudah did remarkably well for the next two rounds, but then started to slow down in the fourth round under the constant pressure by Cotto. Judah was hurt in the sixth by a Cotto left hook and it appeared that Judah was ready to go. However, he somehow made it out of the round in one piece.

In the next round, Judah suddenly turned the tables when he hurt Cotto badly with a left hand shot that had Cotto on wobbly legs. Judah, however, was unable to finish him off and left it escape the round. In the final four rounds, Cotto completely took over the fight, landing vicious body shots and hook to the head that hurt Judah on numerous occasions and had his eye beginning to close by the end of the fight. After being knocked down in the 11th, the referee stepped in and halted the bout after Judah got up and showed that he had nothing left.
