04.07.07 - At the press conference on Tuesday in Hamburg, arena-CEO Ahmet Öner stated that Swedish heavyweight star Aldo Colliander had declined a very good offer to fight Cuban Olympic Champion Odlanier Solis at arena’s fight night in Hamburg this Friday.. When Colliander read in German newspapers that there was a different opponent waiting for Solis he finally stopped gambling and accepted the deal.
Colliander: “It looked as if I was either too greedy or afraid of Solis. I will definitely fight and beat him. Everybody who expects something different will see how strong I am.”
Öner: “Aldo wanted to play a round of purse poker. But he didn’t know that I am a very experienced gambler. Nobody rips me off or fools me.”
Solis wants to take the next step on his way to a Championship bout by beating the strong Swede who lost only one of his 13 pro-fights. But it will be no walk in the park for the “fastest fist of the Caribbean” as a German TV announcer called Solis after his two first-round-victories against German Champion Andreas Sidon and Alex Mazikin.
Öner: “I know that Colliander is a strong opponent. That is exactly the reason why I wanted him for Solis. We don’t need journey men to build up our “golden boy” from Cuba. He needs tough competition. Though I think there’s no way Aldo can match up to him. Solis is nothing less than a sensation. Nobody on the world can beat him.”
