Travis Walker Issues Challenge To Hasim Rahman

travis walker(Houston) – NABF top five-rated heavyweight, Travis “The Freight Train” Walker, through his management team headed by Stephen P. Munisteri of Munisteri Sports & Entertainment have informed Joe Dwyer, Chairman of the NABF Championship Committee, that Travis Walker is willing to challenge Hasim Rahman for the NABF title.

In a letter dated July 6, 2007 from Munisteri to Dwyer, Munisteri points out that Travis Walker’s management team and promoter originally offered to stage an NABF Interim Heavyweight Title fight between Travis Walker and a suitable highly ranked opponent at the NABF Convention in Cancun, Mexico.

However, since Hasim Rahman was rated higher than Mr. Walker and his promoter was willing to stage an NABF Interim Title bout the NABF sanctioned the June 14, 2007 Hasim Rahman vs. Taurus Sykes bout as a title fight. Now that Mr. Rahman has won the NABF Title, Travis Walker through his management team have informed the NABF that Mr. Walker is willing to challenge Rahman for the NABF Title.

Walker is hoping that he is the highest rated contender available to challenge and that the NABF will force Rahman to fight a mandatory defense in the near future.

Munisteri stated, “Team Walker, which consists of Goossen Tutor Promotions, Munisteri Sports & Entertainment, and trainer Dwight Pratchett, all have confidence that Walker is developed enough where he can beat Rahman and take the title. Walker already has the IBA Continental America’s title and he is anxious to add to his collection of belts. Walker has always been willing to fight tough competition to show that he is the best young heavyweight in the world. He has already fought Jason Estrada and George Garcia, who were both undefeated prospects and previously rated as the No. 1 and No. 2 rated amateur heavyweights in the United States. Now, Walker would like to move up and challenge a top contender, one with a name. Hasim Rahman, being rated No. 4 in the world, current NABF title holder and past Heavyweight Champion of the World is just the type of fighter we are looking for to make our statement.”

Walker stated, “I feel I’m the best young heavyweight in the world and I’m ready to prove it. I’m ready to step up to top 10 competition and I want that NABF belt. I hope to bring it home to Tallahassee on my road to being first boxing world champion from that city.”
