"FightNight III" at the Arena gym: Solis beats Colliander

solis06.07.07 - Olympic gold medallist Odlanier Solis beat Sweden’s Aldo Colliander by unanimous decision at the arena Gym in Hamburg. Because of an injured ankle, Solis had done no sparring in preparation for the fight. Manager and promoter Ahmet Öner: “No other promoter in the world would have let Solis fight under these circumstances. But he wanted the fight and I knew that he would win anyways. Nobody can stop this man!"

Solis’ fellow countryman Yuriorkis Gamboa impressed the 800 spectators in Hamburg with a spectacular 2nd round t.k.o. victory over Joel Mayo from Chile. Right after the fight, Gamboa went to the airport to fly to Miami where he will meet his wife and his daughter who have just escaped from Cuba for the first time in eight months.
