After The Weekend’s Action - Rating The World’s Ten Best Welterweights: Mayweather, Mosley, Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Cintron and More!

floyd mayweather jr.17.07.07 - By James Slater: This past Saturday saw the coronation of a new world champion in the welterweight division. Paul Williams out-boxed the tough Antonio Margarito and collected the WBO 147 pound title in the process. Williams is a welcome addition to the upper echelon of a weight class already deep with talent. “The Punisher” has made the welterweight division, already boxing’s most exciting weight class, even more appealing.

Not only that, but the twenty-five year old could well be a future super star. Floyd Mayweather remains the best in the world at welterweight, as well as being the linear champ. But “Pretty Boy” sure has some great possible opponents gunning for him now. Indeed, there are literally a dozen or more great fights that can be made at welterweight. If even half of these mouth-watering bouts are made, we fans are in for a superb couple of years or so.

With that said, I now give my choices for the ten best in the world at 147 pounds.
