Vernon Forrest Wins WBC light-middleweight title against Baldomir

28.07.07 - By Sasha "Kozlov" Baranov: Light middleweight Vernon Forrest (39-2, 28 KOs) won an impressive 12-round unanimous decision tonight over Carlos Baldomir (43-11-6, 13 KOs) to win the vacant WBC light middleweight title tonight at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington. The final judges scores were 118-109, 118-109, 116-111..

The fight was never close, as Forrest drilled Baldomir all night long and turned his face a nasty red by the 12th round. Baldomir proved to have an excellent chin, as always, but his lack of power and speed were major flaws that kept him from being a factor in the fight. In the end, Forrest had far too many boxing skills for the slow-footed Baldomir, who was forced to eat a tremendous amount of leather tonight.
