31.07.07 - By Sasha "Kozlov" Baranov: According to the latest boxing news, former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis (now retired) has expressed interest in fighting a rematch against Vitali Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs) if they can offer him enough money. Kommersant, a Russian news site, has come out with a report stating that Lewis, 41, would like to fight Klitschko if they could offer a sum to which Lewis would find agreeable. How much that is unknown, but it would likely be in the tens of millions..

However, before any of this can happen, Vitali must first beat Jameel McCline, whom he is making his comeback fight against on September 22, 2007, in Munich, Germany.
Following that, Vitali must fight the winner of WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev and Samuel Peter, in order to see if Vitali can win the heavyweight belt. The title is needed for Vitali to bring in money, said Vitali, “If I become the world champion, the leading TV channels will make that offer.”
Obviously this is a tough task for Vitali, in particular because of the two years that he's been away from the boxing ring. During that time, Samuel Peter - his mostly likely opponent should Vitali get by McCline - has vastly improved since being beaten by Vitali's younger brother, Wladimir.
Lewis and Vitali fought once before in June 21, 2003, a bout in which the fight was stopped in the sixth round due to cuts Vitali had sustained, giving Lewis the victory by TKO. Since then, Vitali has been pressing for a rematch, but Lewis - up until now - has shown zero interest, as he retired from boxing following his victory over Vitali.
