Ruslan Chagaev deeply disappointed

Due to an acute chronic illness, WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev is unable to compete in the world championship unification bout on October 13 against the WBO world champion Sultan Ibragimov. At the moment Chagaevís illness makes normal intensive training over a several week period impossible, which means that the Universum-backed world champion will be unfit for the scheduled bout on October 13 in Moscow..

Ruslan Chagaev, who is currently still in Uzbekistan, is deeply disappointed: ďIím really upset that I wonít be able to fight. I could have made history with this fight as there hasnít been this situation before that two current world champions face each other for a unification bout in their first title defence. But for such an important match youíve got to be top fit and properly prepared, and unfortunately thatís just not possible at the moment.Ē
