Chavez Jr. Stops Brown in 5th round TKO

julio cesar chavez jr.04.08.07 - By Jeff Bastasini: Undefeated light middleweight prospect Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (33-0, 26 KOs) completely destroyed his overmatched opponent Louis Brown (15-3), stopping him in the fifth round of a scheduled 10-round bout tonight at the Allstate Arena, in Rosemont, Illinois. Chavez Jr., only 21-years-old, punished Brown from the outset, hitting him with powerful double hooks to the body, and completely outclassing him.

Along the way, Chavez Jr., the son of the boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez, knocked Brown down once in the fourth round. The beating continued into the fifth round, in which Chavez Jr. used Brown as target practice for his hooks. Finally, after landing two solid shots to the head, the referee Gerald Scott stepped in and halted the bout at 2:42 of the fifth round. As usual, Chavez Jr. focused mainly on his offensive attack, caring little about defense, and it showed as he took a lot of return fire from the 34-year-old Brown.
