New Weekly Friday Night Latin Boxing Broadcast Series Debuts Friday

25.05.04 - The world premiere of the first live weekly internet boxing series, presented by CMXsports and promoted by Guilty Boxing 'CMX Boxeo de Campeones' debuts This Friday! May 28, from The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Top-rated featherweight contender HUMBERTO "ZORRITA" SOTO goes mano-a-mano with Colombian fireball WILSON ALCORRO in the 10-round main event rumble, which will headline the seven-bout all-action card.

Boxing fans from around the world can catch all the action via a live internet stream, and access the replay, at www.cmxsports.com for a monthly subscription fee of just $4.95. The series will air live every Friday night, beginning at 11 P.M. ET / 8 P.M. PT. Subscribers will also be able to access archived fight footage and get behind-the-scenes interviews, previews and articles. The broadcasts will be available in English and Spanish, featuring the commentary of "The Colonel" Bob Sheridan, a veteran of more than 750 world title fight broadcasts, and former five-time world champion Manuel Medina, respectively. Boxing historian Bert Randolph Sugar, former editor of The Ring and Boxing Illustrated, and the author of more than 50 books, has signed on as CMXsports Senior Boxing Analyst, providing weekly columns to the CMXsports website and commentary to the broadcasts.

Soto, 33-5-2 (18 KOs), currently world-rated No. 3 by the WBC and No. 5 by the WBO, is riding a 19-month, 10-bout winning streak -- six by knockout including a WBC FECARBOX title victory over Emidgio Gastelum at The Orleans in 2002. This fight marks Soto's 2004 U.S. debut. He has fought twice this year, winning both by knockout.

Alcorro, 23-5-3 (15 KOs), had his four-year 17-bout unbeaten streak broken last November via a disputed 12-round decision against undefeated Jorge Solis in their WBA FEDCENTRO title fight in Florida. It was a rematch of their exciting WBC Latin America title fight, which had ended in a draw earlier that year. Alcorro, a former IBF Latin America champion and a 10-year-veteran, has long been a fan favorite who fears no one in the ring, which explains why 65% of victories have been by vicious knockout.

The exciting undercard will feature a host of undefeated prospects risking their records against tough-as-nails opponents, including, welterweight Michael Lozada, 12-0-1(8 KOs) from Tijuana, Mexico against Rodrigo Aranda, 6-4-1 (2 KOs), from San Pedro, CA; welterweight Avelino Chavez, 10-0 (7 KOs), from Las Vegas, NV; and the beautiful, yet deadly bantamweight, Melinda Cooper, 10-0 (6 KOs), from Las Vegas, NV against Alina Ramirez, 3-2-1, from Guasave, Sin Mexico. Other exciting fighters featured include: featherweight Alejandro "Tito" Ramirez, from Sonora, Mexico in a six-round battle against Gilberto Sanchez Leon, from Mexicali, Mexico, bantamweight Omar saldo, from Tijuana, Mexico and Tomas Barragan, from Los Angeles, CA in a four-round super featherweight bout against Ramon Montano, from Sonoma, Mexico.

CMXsports and Guilty Boxing will produce 48 two-hour shows a year over a three-year period with two cards each month emanating from Las Vegas --The Orleans Hotel & Casino and the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. The remaining two shows per month will be broadcast from different locations, including, southern California and Mexico.

"CMX Boxeo de Campeones" will showcase the very best in action-packed Latin fights, a staple of Guilty Boxing shows over the past decade, as well as an extensive amount of high-quality features on boxing. CMXsports will complement the broadcast with the Internet's capability to provide fans around-the-clock, behind-the-scenes information about the fighters before and after the show, and the state-of-the-art CMXlivecam, allowing fans unprecedented access to the fighters on a real-time basis. In short, CMXsports is leveraging the latest in Internet streaming and interactive technology to produce an unprecedented experience for the viewer.

CMXsports is one of the rapidly growing members of the CMX family of sports and entertainment companies founded by A. Demetrius (Tony) Brown. Brown, a former professional basketball player, established a successful metal trading company that later evolved into CMXchange, a successful Internet-based trading exchange. Over the past two years, Brown has purchased or created a number of companies focused at a range of sports and entertainment products and services.
