13.08.07 – By Adrian Saba: Boxing keeps surprising us with the announcement of new events. Puerto Rican and boxing legend Felix “Tito” Trinidad has –according to some sources- signed to fight against former P4P King and boxing great Roy Jones. The fight would take place in early 2008, possibly at Madison Square Garden. Trinidad is currently 34 years old; Jones is 38.
Trinidad’s first comeback aimed a rematch against Bernard Hopkins, but it was truncated by Winky Wright. During the last months, Trinidad’s new comeback was rumoured, with names as Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather being mentioned as potential opponents. Jones, on the other hand, is himself on a comeback and trying to regain glory in the Light Heavyweight division. His last win was on a fight against Anthony Hamshaw. The unexpected Trinidad-Jones fight would happen at 175 pounds or at a catch weight.
