Middleweight Prospect Andy Lee makes It Eleven Wins Out Of Eleven With TKO Over Ciaran Healy

andy lee25.08.07 - By James Slater: Tonight, at The Point, Dublin, on the under card of the Bernard Dunne-Kiko Martinez European title fight, the super-talented Andy Lee scored his eleventh pro victory. Stopping the brave, but outgunned Ciaran Healy of Belfast at the end of the fourth round, Lee scored his eighth inside schedule win. Boxing in his native Ireland for the first time, the six foot, two inches tall twenty-three year old southpaw put his variety of punches together in fine style.

Looking for all the world like a white Thomas Hearns - at least with his long-limbed boxing style - Lee threw good, hard shots to both Healy's body and head. Throwing a number of fast and powerful hooks upstairs and down, Lee looked world class indeed. By the third round, he had things well under control and in the fourth he opened up in a bid to end matters. This he did courtesy of a wicked left hand to the midsection that almost doubled Healy up.

With just over ten seconds remaining in the round, a huge left hand to his opponent's body put the finishing touches to Andy's night's work. Bravely, Healy held on to make it to the bell, but was pulled out immediately upon having done so. The five foot, eleven standing thirty-two year old fell to 6-6-1(1) he was stopped for the fourth time in his career.

For prospective star Lee - who is trained, of course, by Emanuel Steward - the sky truly is the limit. With his long reach, fast hands, versatility and power, he looks a certainty to make his mark in the world class ranks at middleweight. Where, surely, a major title awaits him.
